Hi I'm Daken

I work in Human Resources. I love photographing nature, God's creations. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a VP of HR, grew up outside Los Angeles, California, and I really enjoy photographing nature as it reminds me that "all things denote that there is a God." I'm a husband, father of six, and ten (soon to be twelve) grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

Having lived in several states (CA, PR, FL, TX & UT) and countries (Chile, Guatemala & the USA), I have found that my belief in Christ and His Church restored at this time has been an anchor to my soul, no matter where I am or what has happened in my life. I have been extremely blessed to have a knowledge of the Gospel all of my life. When life's challenges come, as they inevitably come to each one of us, I have always had a firm foundation to turn to when others seem confused or to shift in the winds of change. My daily personal studies and prayers, as well as my weekly congregational worshiping fill me with joy and answers to everyday issues and concerns. Attending and serving in our temples brings me peace and provides time to ponder and reflect away from the cares of the world. My faith and religion provide me with a spiritual compass to guide and direct me, as well as others to meet and share with. I love my life!

How I live my faith

Over the years, I have always found ways I could contribute in my fellowship with others of my faith and those not of my faith. Recently my wife and I co-chair our city's Centennial and 4th of July celebrations, and was reminded of the many great people in this world. Daily I look for ways to do Random Acts of Kindness. In the past, I have served as a Scoutmaster, a leader over our congregation of 100+ families, and then presided over a group of nine congregations, totaling about 2500 members of our church. I don't care much how I'm asked to serve, I just love to serve others and share my faith. It makes me happy to serve others, as well as makes me a better person.

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the power and authority that Jesus gives to men to lead and preside in their families and in church. Much like women have a unique role in mothering and nurturing, men have a responsibility in leadership. In our marriage, my wife and I confer on all matters and decisions related to our family. Are Mormons Christians?

Absolutely we are Christians! Having grown up in the LDS faith, I can't remember a time when I didn't know about and believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Redeemer. As far back as I can remember, my parents gathered our family around at least once a week to teach us about Christ and how we can be more like him. Now my wife and I do the same. We talk of Christ, teach of Christ, and we try to remember and be like Him at all times. And when we fall short, we try to quickly repent and call upon His grace to make us better. Show more Show less
