Hi I'm Darin

I'm a student, a son, a future husband and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student in health management and policy looking forward to marriage with the girl of my dreams. My parents, who were both teachers, always encouraged me. I like to teach too. I teach an English class for Chinese-speaking friends of mine on Fridays, and I am an organic chemistry tutor. I lived in Taiwan for a year and in the Philippines for two and a half years. Each experience I have had in Asia has improved my life and given me direction. I am looking for ways to make a positive influence in the lives and health of those living in these and other countries.

Why I am a Mormon

I have known God lives for as long as I can remember, but I had to make a decision in my younger years whether I would keep my testimony or not. My mother sat with me at home when I was a small boy and taught me from the scriptures. She taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ and of the power of the Holy Ghost. On one of these occasions I felt the Spirit tell me in my heart that what my mother taught me was true. At that very moment, I felt the Holy Ghost and it felt like the love of God. As I grew up there came a time when I began to feel lost, depressed, and frustrated all the time. I began to have a great desire to return to happiness and find direction in my life again. I knew the way to find it was to turn to the Lord and ask Him for help. I resolved to read the Book of Mormon for the first time from cover to cover. From the day I began, I started to feel feelings of the Holy Ghost again. I knew the Lord loved me and would always love me. I began to have happiness in my life again and the desire to share it. I am a Mormon because I learned for myself that the Book of Mormon is true. Through it I found the light, hope and happiness from the Lord that I am continually looking for.

How I live my faith

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." -Philippians 4:13 This message is written on a small rock under a tree inside the Detroit airport near gate B18. I saw it once as I was boarding an airplane headed for a challenging job. I know the Lord is guiding me each day of my life and I thank Him for it. It gives me great comfort to know that I am not alone.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Darin
First we must find Him, then we can come to know Him. The word "pray" means "ask." We can find Him if we ask in sincere prayer. He has given us His word through prophets, scriptures, and the Holy Ghost. We can receive His words and aks Him if they are true. He speaks to us through the Holy Ghost. When we are patient and sincere, and when we are willing to give our hearts to God, then we find Him. When we find Him we are willing to let Him be our God. He knows the way to peace and happiness. When we do what He asks, we find peace, happiness and we come to know Him. Show more Show less
