Hi I'm Phil

I'm a soldier, I'm a democrat and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

At first those three things may not appear to work together; soldier, democrat and Mormon, but I assure you they do, they work very well together. Who I am professionally, politically and religiously all blend almost seamlessly. Is it easy? No, living the gospel of Jesus Christ is not easy, but it does make everything else easier. I'm a Dad, a grandfather, an Army officer, a blogger and I'm a Latter-day Saint (Mormon). I have a BA in History, and a second BA in Secondary Education. I'm currently going through graduate school studying American History. I love to read anything on history or politics, studying my personal family history, rugby, having once played for the Army Engineer Regimental Rugby team.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always known the Book of Mormon was true and that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God, don't ask me how, I've just always known. There have been too many things in my life that I could ever deny the truthfulness of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I have often said, that if I didn't know about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, I'd have to be a Viking, because nothing else -as far as religion - has ever appealed to me.

How I live my faith

I have been many things in my life, farmer, aide to a President, teacher and soldier. I love my country, and I'm so very grateful to have been born at this particular time. I love my Savior and I am so thankful that He atoned for my sins. I love to teach the gospel. If I could choose anything I could do to serve the Lord (a calling), it would be to teach about the Savior and the restoration.
