Hi I'm Heather

I'm a mother of five young children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am constantly on the go, chasing one of my children. When you have 5 children, 8 and under, there is always something to be done, or someone to help. I love being a mother and it is always what I wanted to do, but sometimes I lose perspective of the beauty and joy that motherhood is. Perhaps it is because it can be hard to see the glory while you are taking care of sick kids and doing mountains of laundry. I am also the wife to a wonderful husband who decided to go back for more education. Since he is often gone or working I have to make a extra effort to be patient and to work hard to accomplish everything to keep our home running smoothly. I love to run! I ran my first half-marathon this last year and really enjoyed it. I loved accomplishing a goal that I had set many years ago, and thought I would never accomplish. I love to learn new things. If I could, I think I would be a perpetual college student. I enjoy dancing, reading, spending time with my family, taking walks, and being in nature to view all the beauty in the world.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was raised in the church I think that everyone, at some point, must find out what they believe. I can't pinpoint any exact moment, but a series of many moments when I have learned that the church is true. What I love about this Gospel is that it is very personal. Each person can search and find out if principals are true. When you live a principal the Spirit and results will tell you if that principal is true and good. I love that anytime I have a question or problem I can turn to my Heavenly Father in prayer. Often it will be something small that is wrong, but even in the small things my prayers are answered. If I have a bad day and am upset or troubled, I know that I can turn to my Heavenly Father and when I tell Him my troubles He will bless me with a change of heart or the peace and comfort that I need. It is often through prayer that I can have a change of attitude, or gain new perspective that I would not be able to do on my own. My strength comes from the Savior. I know that my Heavenly Father knows and loves us personally. I have felt that love in quite moments when I have felt sad and alone. I have felt it through the actions of others. I see it in the little things my Heavenly Father blesses me with each day. I love that families can be forever! When I was young, my little sister died shortly after being born. It was hard on me and my family, but through this experience I know that death is not the end. I will see her again some day. Through the Savior and His perfect life, death, and resurrection, we will live again. The Gospel is about small things. It is the little things we do daily that have great impacts on our lives. It is how we spend our time, if we read or scriptures, if we pray alone and as a family, if we speak kindly. The little things determine how we live and who we become. I am grateful that we can change and become who the Savior would have us be.

How I live my faith

At church I play the piano for some of our meetings. It is actually a challenge for me because although I play the piano I am not perfect and it doesn't always come easily. Hopefully with all this practice I will get a little better. I try to influence our community by participating at our children's school and at sporting events. In our neighborhood I often go the park and I enjoy meeting my neighbors.
