Hi I'm Scott

I grew up in Utah, California and Iran. I'm a finance executive with a passion for family & photography. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband (30+ years), father (of 5), grandfather (8 so far) and son. My passion is my family, photography (especially photography with an iPhone now) and boating including several years on a Sky Ski hydrofoil prior to a back operation--now I love surfing and watching the family wakeboard, kneeboard and soak in the sun. Working as a financial executive over the years at both private and public companies has enabled me to pay the bills. I attended all four years of high school and graduated from an American school in Iran. I served an LDS mission in Brazil and obtained a Masters of Accountancy degree from Brigham Young University. Since being married our family has lived in California, Utah, Arizona, Massachusetts and Utah. After the children left the "nest" my wife and I moved to Georgia for another job opportunity. I have children and/or grandchildren in Virginia, Arizona, Utah and New Zealand.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family. My father is a first generation convert. My mother is from a long line of Mormon pioneer ancestors. So I was raised as a Mormon. While attending all four years of high school in Iran I was the only Mormon in my age group for many of those years. I was at the age where I had to find out for myself just what I believed and what I didn't. That's the beauty of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord invites each person to personally find out the truth of His doctrine. Yes, I relied on the teachings of my parents during my formative years. However, as I wrapped up high school and left for college I needed to know for myself. Only through my own personal study of the scriptures--both the Bible and the Book of Mormon--through prayer, faith and service did I come to know for myself the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I received then, and I continue to regularly receive in my life today, strong spiritual and personal revealed knowledge through the Spirit of the Lord that I am doing what He wants me to do. It is through this spiritual conversion and personal tangible confirmation that I know that --God is the father of my spirit. He lives and wants me to return to Him, --Jesus Christ is the son of God and is my personal Savior and Redeemer, --Joseph Smith did indeed see God the Father and His son Jesus Christ and was a prophet of God, --The Book of Mormon was translated by the gift and power of God and is the word of God and is another testament of Jesus Christ --We have a living prophet today that leads this church under the direction of the Savior who's church this is, --Every sincere, truth seeking individual can obtain these same assurances through the personal confirmation of the Holy Ghost. It will CHANGE your life for the better!

How I live my faith

I live my faith through dedicated service to my neighbors, community and congregation. My wife currently heads the local church organization responsible for young women from age 12 to post-high school. I serve in the church currently as an executive assistant to the ecclesiastical leaders of eleven local congregations. My life has been dedicated to service and I find joy and satisfaction in serving where ever asked or needed or prompted--whether it entails seven years as a Mormon Bishop (leader of the local congregation), teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to folks from three years old to 90+ years old, auditing local church organization financial transactions, breaking out my chain saw and assisting in cleaning up after major windstorm damage or just spring and fall yard clean-up around the neighborhood or getting on my portable HAM radio and assisting the community in emergency disaster preparation drills.
