Hi I'm Shane

I'm a fun-loving family man and a radiologist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wonderfully married father of three, working as a radiologist. I think working in dark rooms all day makes me especially love the outdoors. I especially enjoy running, fly fishing, and freediving.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Mormon, though my spiritual roots were initially shallow and untested. That all changed when I went on a mission. As I studied and shared the gospel, I began to realize how powerful and stabilizing it was to the families we taught as well as to me. I saw more clearly then ever the course my life could take if I stayed close to what I then knew. I have tried ever since to stick to the commitments I made out there as a missionary, and have never regretted it. Life has been full of moments when I have felt and been grateful for the truth of it all. Those moments keep piling up to the same conclusion. Every time I read about, speak about, or serve in a function relating to the gospel, I know all over again that it's right.

How I live my faith

With a big dose of humor! I try to never take myself too seriously. Makes it easier to stay upbeat and patient with others as well as myself. The gospel is like a mirror that helps me see who I really am and who I am becoming. And, it helps me know where I need to improve. I know if I can keep that process up, I'm moving in the right direction.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Shane
Some of my favorite experiences in church are those involving community service. Natural disasters are horrible things for those affected. But, I love the opportunities to help out that follow. My job is sedentary, so physical labor is a sort of therapy, and our service sees no church membership boundaries. I love seeing the relief and gratitude on the faces of tired people when a gang of smiling Mormons shows up to shovel mud out of a flooded home or cut and haul fallen trees away from a home hit by a hurricane.
