Hi I'm Dave

I am a husband & father to seven children (we are a blended family), am a retail manager, and I am a Latter Day Saint.

About Me

I am a father of seven fabulous children (Hers, mine, and ours). I grew up on the east coast in a typical protestant household. I attended both Catholic and public schools. I joined the Army after high school and was stationed in Hawaii. I married my first wife when I was just 19 and she gave me four wonderful children of who I am very proud of. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful in my first marriage. I became inactive as a member of the church for many years. I met my present wife Trish in 1995 while I was serving at Fort Lewis, Washington. We eventually married and after serving 20 years I retired from the Army and moved to Olympia. I eventually was reactivated in the church through the love and friendship of our close friends. We were recently sealed together for time and all eternity in the Seattle Temple. My life has been greatly blessed and I am so thankful to my Savior Jesus Christ for everything he has given me. Through God, all things are possible.

Why I am a Mormon

I always wondered if there was more to life than what I could physically see. Where did I come from? Why am I here? What is the significance of my life. I never heard of the LDS church or Mormons. One day I saw some missionaries riding their bikes and asked them what they were doing. They explained to me that they were of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I agreed to meet with them and was very intrigued by their faith. When I learned of God's plan and our pre-existence it all made perfect sense. The more I learned the more I desired to have the gospel in my life. I was baptized and became a member. I have taken some wrong turns in my life and learned some lessons the hard way. I am both humbled and awed by the way God works in our lives. By living the gospel the Lord blesses my family and enriches our lives. My life has a greater purpose and is more meaningful because I enjoy the fulness of the Gospel.

How I live my faith

I make sure that I am a good example to my family. I make sure that I recognize God in my life. I pray and read the scriptures. Having the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life keeps me centered on my family. I take any available opportunity to serve others and to be charitable. I feel that we need to make a difference in the lives of others to help those that need it and to give to those who are without. I don't try to be a perfect person because we all know that is impossible. To me, what Christ meant by saying "Be ye therefore perfect" was to be perfect in our faith, in love, and in charity. Don't ever give up on your fellow man.
