Hi I'm Chad

I serve as a Hostage Negotiator on a SWAT team and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a police officer for 27 years. I started out working as a Police Cadet in High School. After serving a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I volunteered as a Reserve Police Officer in the city that I grew up in. I spent the next four years going to college, raising a family, and working on the weekend as a Police Officer. After graduating from college I went to work full time with the Sheriff's Office. After 20 years of working as a Deputy Sheriff, raising 5 children, I retired, and went to work as a police officer for a small town in Utah. At 48 I am working as a Traffic Accident Investigator, Police Motorcycle Officer, and I serve on the SWAT team as a Hostage Negotiator. I have had a life of service to my community, my family, and to my neighborhood. "When we are in the service of our fellow man, we are in the service of our God."

Why I am a Mormon

As a police officer I see alot of bad in the world today. My membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints helps me to stay grounded. I see people when they are at their lowest in life. I see people struggle and think in my heart, if they could come unto Christ, he would help them in all that they do. I know that God would not leave us alone on the earth without help. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a Prophet of God, and he receives revelation for all mankind. Through President Monson our Heavenly Father guides and directs his church on the earth today. Often when people are faced with a tuff cituation, wether it is a death of a loved one, or a tramatic event, they often turn to God for help. If only they would come unto Christ, and live by his teachings everyday, they would feel more fulfillment in life, they would feel joy, and would be happy in all that they do. I know and testify that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth by Joseph Smith. I know that Christ lived and died on the cross for us. I know that by living the teachings of the restored gospel, that we can again live with our Heavenly Father. I am greatful for the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Chirst, that I might repent from my sins, and come unto him in the next life. The beauty of the gospel plan is that we can be together with our familys agian, after we die, if we are worthy, and live by the teachings of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church almost every Sunday. Some weeks I have to work as a Police Officer on Sunday. I can honestly say that my cup gets refilled when I attend church. I have served as the Scout Master, organization councilor and President, on the activites committee, as the Young Mens councilor and President, as a teacher in the Sunday School, and currently serve an assignment to teach and direct a group of men on Sunday. Serving others in the neighborhood, gives a person a great feeling of self worth. I have helped with scout camps, neighborhood camp outs, moving of neighbors, rakeing of leaves, and general cleanup, and the list goes on. Sometimes in our busy lives we think that we don't have time to help a widow who may live three streets away from us, clean her yard, paint her fence, or just help pick up around the yard after a long winter. But I can tell you that there is no greater feeling, that you will have when you go out and serve others. Serving fellow members of the church and the neighborhood helps me to see a different side of people, that I don't get to see at work. Helping others is a very rewarding part of life for me, and I truly find joy in serving others.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Chad
My son is currently serving a mission in the State of Texas. He told me a story of a man that let him come into his home when he knocked on the door. The man told my son that he had let him in, orginaly, to ridicule, to chastize, and to tell him what he thought of the mormon's. My son said that he talked to the man about the Plan of Salvation, and how he could live with his family agian, after he passes on to the next life. At the end of the hour long conversation the man said, "I can't believe the special feeling that I have had while I have been talking to you young men." My son explained to him that it was the Holy Ghost, testifing to him that the words he was telling him are true. The man, who wanted to ridicule, and taunt the young men on his door step is now talking to the missionaries twice a week. When the missionaries knock on your door, they might have some answers to some questions that you might have about life, about God, or about Jesus Christ. The Missionaries will not ask you to believe what they tell you, but will ask you to pray about there message, and let God tell you in your heart that what they teach you is true.  Show more Show less
