Hi I'm Bob Blaylock

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a convert of the Mormon Church. I was baptised when I was 14 years old. My wife, Linda, and I have been happily married for over 35 years. We have 5 wonderful children and 5 beautiful grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a family that professed to be Southern Baptist but never attended any church. Around 8 years old I began to be curious about religion and attended different churchs with my friends. I loved hearing Bible stories like David and Goliath, Daniel in the lions den, etc. But most of all I loved hearing stories about Jesus. I enjoyed all of the churchs I visited but never felt especially connected to any of them. Everywhere I went the ministers and priests would tell me that I needed to listen to them and believe the things that they told me. This never quite set well with me. When I was 14 the Mormon missionaries knocked on our door and taught us about Joseph Smith and his vision of God the Father and Jesus Christ. Although, all the churchs I had attended previously taught me that revelation and visions ended with the apostles in the New Testament, the Firtst Vision rang true to me. Most importantly, after relating the story of the First Vision the missionaries said something that came with great impact. They said, "Don't just accept what we have taught you. Ask Heavenly Father if it is true. If it is true and Heavenly does live he will reveal it to you. I put them to the test and prayed about it and received an answer of the truthfulness of the restored Gospel that I could not deny. I have since used that principle to receive a testimony that Jesus Christ lives and that he loves us and that he truly has restored his Gospel to the earth and ordained modern prophets to teach us. I know that God lives and loves us and that through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we can receive all of the knowledge, ordinances and covenants necessary to return to His presence.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church weekly and serving in any way the Lord chooses to use me. I especially enjoy opportunities to teach. I have worked with the youth in various capacities for more than half of my life. At 19 I accepted a call to serve as a missionary in the Mexico City Mexican Mission. For the next 2 years I had the opportunity to teach the gospel to hundreds of wonderful people in many cities throughout Mexico including; Mexico City, Tlanepantla, Irapuato, Satelite, Morelia and Cuatla.
