Hi I'm Doug

I'm a 5th generation Mormon.

About Me

Electronics have always been interesting to me. After a few years in sales I started selling computers. I have been in some form of computers or electronic the rest of my working life. I am now retired. Amateur (Ham) radio has been my hobby for the last 19 years and have enjoyed the fun and service that comes with the hobby. I have a station that can communicate with people all over the world.

Why I am a Mormon

From my childhood I knew that my parents were Mormons. Both my parents had a long history of being member of the faith. I had friends that were not members but most of those who were close friends were those whom I associated with at church functions. As I grew up and learned more about the church I began to feel the teaching moments as the Spirit touched my heart. The more I learned about Gods plan for us the more I felt the Spirit. This process has gone on my entire life to the point I know the gospel, as taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is the way God wants us to live. The thing I most enjoy is the feelings that touch my soul as I read the words of the prophets. Not only from the scriptures but the words uttered by modern day prophets during conference or in the Ensign magazine. I can't describe the feeling well, but it feels real good and usually brings tears to my eyes as I grasp, ever so slightly, God speaking to me, telling me what I am reading is true.

How I live my faith

My responsibility in the Church is to help others teach how to improve the teaching skills of others. Almost everyone has some teaching responsibilities. New parents may not know how to teach their children. Sunday school teachers can all improve their skills. Our ability, to help our members work with other members we visit monthly, can be increased. I enjoy this work very much and thrilled to see improvements being made. My wife and I try to make our home and yard a nice place. We have added a sidewalk behind our fence by the high traffic road. This helps those that walk this way a safer place to walk and to keep them out of the dirt or mud. We had planted many fowlers and shrubs to help brighten the way. We have had those who have said it has made their day better.
