Hi I'm Danielle!

I'm adopted. I write sci-fi. I play banjo. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a recent college grad, trying to figure out what to do for my professional life. I've got a BA in Visual Arts and a double-minor in German and English. I write science fiction stories and hope someday to publish a novel, design a videogame, or make an animated film. While I like animated movies the best, I also enjoy scary movies from time to time--just make sure they're PG-13, please! Last year, my parents bought me a BANJO for Christmas! So now I'm teaching myself how to play. I practice a half-hour a day--and love every second of it.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born and raised in the LDS church, I've been exposed to many other faiths throughout my life. I attended a private, multidenominational Christian school growing up, which exposed me to other variations of Protestant Christianity. I've attended Catholic masses in Viennese cathedrals, seen beautiful Jewish synagogues in Europe, and even once attended a Hari Krishna celebration. All these religions have wonderful, faithful people in them! However, whenever I listen to or examine the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I get a sure and certain feeling that says, "These teachings are true." That's not a feeling I've found anywhere else in the religious world.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the commandments no matter what! That means I live my life by moral standards as best I can--I'm certainly not perfect!. When you're around me, you won't hear me use swear words, or talk badly about other people. You won't see me in line to see an R-rated movie. You won't see me wearing skimpy clothes. If you offer me tea or coffee, I'll say "No, thank you" every time. I try to be kind and have patience with everyone. Some people think it's boring or limiting to go through life like this. I choose to live this way because when I adhere to these standards, I get a peace of mind that really lasts. I'm freed from a lot of unnecessary worries. I'm not really sure if I can explain it all to you. It's really something you have to try out yourself.
