Hi I'm Kristal

I'm a college student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm about to begin my senior year in college. I am majoring in Communication Disorders with a minor in Family Life because I am interested in becoming an Early Intervention Speech Language Pathologist. I am very interested in helping parents better assist their young children in communicating. I really believe in the power of individuals, and in the power of families. Families can be the greatest context for learning. The possibility to help individuals reach their potential brings me joy. I feel like I can make a difference in this field as I have a been able to see how some extra help with an SLP has been helping my nephew to conquer his language delay. I like to read, laugh, cook, dance throughout the kitchen and look at the stars. I am positive and grounded in my knowledge of who I am as a daughter of God. I know that He has a plan for me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I studied Joseph Smith Story (http://lds.org/scriptures/pgp/js-h/1?lang=eng) and felt the Spirit tell me it is true. I have since read and prayed asking my Heavenly Father if the Book of Mormon is true. I know that the Book of Mormon contains the word of God and testifies of Christ. I know that God is aware of me individually. I know that He loves me. I also encourage you to find out for yourself, God will and DOES answer you.

How I live my faith

Right now I am in a student ward working with other women my age. As the secretary, I help the leaders coordinate activities and lessons. The neatest part is being able to see first hand how much the leaders think about, care for and love the women we are serving. I also visit two women in my area at least monthly to see how they are doing and if there is anything I can do to help. Sometimes I just listen as they need to talk. I like how personable this system is. It allows everyone to be ministered to the way the Savior would serve. I am also happy due to the hope I have found while living my faith.

What is the Relief Society?

Relief Society is an opportunity for good women to become even better. It provides opportunities for individuals to learn more about the Savior Jesus Christ as we lovingly serve each other. I have a testimony of charity, or being able to feel the love that the Savior feels us and loving others as Christ would, unconditionally. The glimpses of charity I have experienced are pretty mind boggling to me, because I know that the love I felt for others is more than just my own capacity. Relief Society is not JUST a Sunday meeting. It can be a lifestyle of service, a lifestyle of personal and spiritual development. Relief Society is a network of support. I am grateful to be part of the Relief Society. Show more Show less
