Hi I'm Seth

I'm a student, I'm a middle child...and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Seth. I am 21 years old, and recently returned from a 2-year mission for my church in North Carolina, USA. I love to play the guitar, but I don't take requests. My favorite pen of all time is the Zebra 301. My biggest pet peeve of all time is when my favorite pen of all time stops working without warning. Pens fly across rooms when that happens. My second biggest pet peeve is gnats. I will be attending college in a place that is cold and elevated. My interest is in humanities and social sciences, but I am not sure what I want to major in. I find fulfillment in communicating and just talking to people in such a way that they feel valuable and listened to; maybe it's because I don't have much to say. I would go for a degree in Listening if there was such a thing. I am eccentric about folding papers and doodling on things - it's like I always have to have something in my hands! I am always rolling up my straw wrappers at Wendy's or ripping the wrapper off a water bottle and folding it into a paper football. Reading Reader's Digest brings me a lot of joy, and I'm not sure why. I would consider myself shy until you get to know me, after which I'm still shy, but now you know me! My favorite book is the Book of Mormon ("well, of course he'd say that, this is mormon.org"). But it really is.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon primarily because of example. If I didn't have parents who did the right thing, I am positive I would not be doing the right thing. I became "converted" to the Gospel of Jesus Christ on my mission as I read the Book of Mormon for the first and second and third and fourth time, and felt the confirming of the Spirit each time I read a verse. I repented of my sins and experienced a mighty change in my attitude and desires. I believe very strongly that there are truths of the Gospel that had been lost from the earth but have since been restored by a loving Heavenly Father through a modern day prophet. The Book of Mormon restores these plain and precious truths and is convincing evidence to anyone who will sincerely read, ponder, and pray about its message, that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. I understand there are so many issues that so many people have with the Book of Mormon, because I have heard a fair share, but I promise that it's true, and I know no other way than by the power of the Holy Ghost in my heart and mind. I am a Mormon because the Book of Mormon is true.

How I live my faith

Serving my mission helped me to become bold about my beliefs. Certain things will always be wrong/false, and certain things will always be right/true. I try to live my faith in two ways: 1) I try my very hardest to learn what is right and true and then do it, and 2) I try to stand up for what is right and true in the everyday workings of my life. There always seem be be things every day that test our integrity, honesty, humility, faith, and patience. I am not 100% at living my faith, but I'd say I try 100% of the time to do my best, and to stay free of major mistakes. My goal in life is to be happy, selfishly just so that I can be happy, but also I want other people to be happy and I don't think I could very well help them be happy if I'm not happy myself.
