Hi I'm Tynley

I'm a wife. I'm a mother. I'm an artist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm interested in just about everything. When I'm not busy with my four kids I like to paint, make pottery, read, play video games, play the piano, study Egyptian hieroglyphs, ancient Greek, and Japanese. I recently started a garden and I like to find recipes to use my in-season vegetables. I love trying food from different cultures - Bulgogi, Pad Thai, Sushi, Tamales, Pupusas, Gomen... wherever I can find it, I'm a fan of delicious flavor.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon has improved every aspect of my life. Because of my religion, I am fully committed to my husband and hope to spend eternity with him and my children. Because of my religion, I know I can be a better person and I try harder every day to improve myself. Because of my religion, I know why I'm bothering to try so hard - what I have to look forward to when I die, why we must suffer and struggle and why it's all worth it. Without the Truth of the gospel, I would be lost, adrift, and a much worse person than I am today.

How I live my faith

My phase in life right now is raising small children, so that consumes most of my time. One of the church leaders said that as parents, our responsibility is to create happy memories for our children so that later in life when they're struggling, they can look back at a happier time and find the strength they need to continue on the right path. When I heard that wonderful counsel my purpose as a mother became much clearer. I'm not just feeding and clothing them and trying to help them contribute to society, I'm trying to have fun with them and create happy memories. This gives me the energy I need to take them to the park, to the beach, on nature walks, or just getting out the construction paper and letting them make books or cut out butterflies to paste all over the walls of the house, or have a princess party where everyone dresses up like royalty and eats fancy cupcakes. But I also feel okay when we just survive the day, because being a parent is hard work!
