Why I am a Mormon

At a very difficult time in my life I was enveloped with such great love and service from strangers who didn't know me or my family. They took me and my family under their wings with no questions; just total acceptance. The example of such Christ like love so impressed me; I knew I had to learn more about these great people and what caused them to perfom such selfless acts of kindness. So, I got to know them through learning about the Church from young missionaries. Here I am 14 years later, still learning about my Father in Heaven, and my brother Jesus Christ. I am so thankful to be a member of this great Church. Now it's my turn to be of service to my brothers and sisters around the world. Why do we do this? Because God lives! Because we know and understand why we are here on this earth living the life we do. Because we know what the next step is. Because we love you, and because we are brothers and sisters and that's what family does for each other. We help each other through the good, bad, and sad times.

How I live my faith

I teach folks in our church how to research their family history through the great resources we have. It is truly inspiring to know that families can be together forever and we have a responsibility to seek out those in our family in past generations and bring them into this wonderful gospel too! I bare personal testimony the doors of heaven will open when it's time to find these precious family members. God will make the path known to you, and you will come to know God through this great resource. He loves all His children the same. I live my faith daily in my work, at home and when I am traveling. Kindness is a great door opener no matter where you go. People recognize the light of Christ when they see it, and many of them don't even realize this is why they speak to me. I have seen the doors open to me wherever I go and this is a great witness to me of the power of God's love!

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

We can increase our faith in Jesus Christ be recognizing His hand in our life. I'll give you an example; a friend of mine had a small child who fell into their pool when she was 18 months old, she was in the pool over 11 minutes and the EMT took over 17 minutes to resusitate her. She was on life support for a long time and the doctors advised the parents to take her off and let her go. As a ward, we held a fast for the family during this time. They decided not to take her off life support. The doctors told them there would be brain damage, but you would never know this today when you look at this young woman. That was over 14 years ago. You can see the hand of God in her life. We know the blessing came from God, we know He knows we know it. Why does Jesus want us to know Him? Why does He want us to see His hand in our life? I believe it's through living our lives and giving Him recognition for the goodness in our lives that we truly come to KNOW HIM. Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Because we can't get back to our Father in Heaven on our own. We need the great attoning sacrifice of our brother Jesus to help us get back home to Him. Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Great question! This can be confusing sometimes, so lets start at the beginning with branch; this is the building in your area, and in this building there may be so many people that the building can't accomodate all of them at one time so we split them into 'wards'. Some buildings may have two or three wards in them. When a branch is split into two 'wards' this allows the branch to begin growing again. A 'stake' is a group of branches in a specified area. If a 'stake' grows really large, the specified area is broken into smaller 'stakes' which allows them to begin growing again. I hope this helps... Show more Show less
