Hi I'm Hillary!

I'm a busy Ohio mom to 6 great kids and wife to a wonderful husband!

About Me

Hi! I am a 30 year old mom of 6. We are a blended family. I inherited 3 great kids when I married my husband and we have 3 together for a total of 6. We had a baby boy each year for the first 3 years of our marriage which was quite a surprise! The kids keep us busy, that's for sure. I have a degree in Elementary Education and taught Kindergarten before my son was born. After that, I made the decision to stay home. I love being a mom and everything that it entails. (Well, almost everything. Mopping is not my favorite.) Sometimes I get funny looks and tacky comments when I tell people how many kids we have, but I try not to let it bother me. I consider Motherhood a sacred honor! Taking care of my children and husband has brought me so much joy and fulfillment. Some of my personal interests include recipe hoarding, cooking, being crafty, antique shopping, finding new ways to be frugal, bargain shopping, playing the piano, singing, and learning about history.

Why I am a Mormon

The doctrines of our church make sense to me in my head, AND in my heart. I was raised a member of the church, but it has always made sense for me. Life can pose some difficult questions. There was a record of prophets in the east, The Bible. Where is, and is there, a record in The Americas? Christ visited his own land after he was crucified. Why would he not then visit those in The Americas? Today, how would Christs church be structured? Are families separated forever at death? Heavenly Father communicated through prophets long ago. Why would he stop communicating through a prophet today? The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has provided me the answers to all of these questions, and they all make sense! Jesus Christ did communicate with the people and prophets of The Americas. We know this because records were kept and translated into what we call The Book of Mormon. The true church of Jesus Christ is structured the same as it was in Christs day. Through the sealing power of the priesthood, we can be together forever with our families after death. Heavenly Father DOES communicate to us through a living prophet and 12 apostles. All of these answers make sense in my mind, but I also have a testimony of them in my heart. I have prayed to God and asked him if these things are true and have felt the confirmation in my heart that they are. This fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ means everything to me. Everything I say, do, and don't do is because of my firm testimony that The Church of Jesus Christ is Heavenly Father's restored church on the earth today. It has shaped me into the person that I am and inspires me to be the kind of person my Heavenly Father wants me to be.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by studying the scriptures daily. I live my faith by participating in daily personal and family prayer. I live my faith by studying the words and teachings of prophets and apostles, both in the scriptures and in these days. I live my faith by showing Christ-like love to everyone I meet, even if we don't share the same morals. I live my faith by teaching my children about the restored gospel, about honesty, faith, love, forgiveness, service, and sacrifice. I live my faith by serving the members of my congregation. I try to be the same person at church that I am at home and in my community.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Think of "testimony" when used in the courtroom. A witness tells what he knows to be true. The same definition can be used when referring to a "testimony" that Mormons speak of. A witness of Christ telling what he/she knows to be true. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith is the man who Heavenly Father chose to restore His church. Joseph Smith lived in New York and started to inquire of the doctrines of different churches in his area. All of the churches believed such different things and Joseph became very confused by the conflicting doctrines. When he was 14, he went into the woods to pray to Heavenly Father and ask which of the churches were true. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph and told him that none of the churches were true. Through the direction of our Heavnely Father, Joseph Smith restored Jesus Christs church to the earth, he restored Heavenly Father's Priesthood to the earth, he retrieved the Golden Plates buried by prophets of The Americas long ago, and he translated the Book of Mormon from those plates. He was martyred in Carthage Jail by an angry mob of men who did not like the Mormons. He was the first prophet of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith did not create The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he restored it. It's not called "The Church of Joseph Smith." It IS Christs church and bears His name. Show more Show less
