Hi I'm Nathan

I'm a Professor, a Husband, a Father, and I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a graduate student working on a PhD in Hospitality Management. I am married to my wonderful wife Andrea and we have three wonderful children; Madison (4) Carly (2) and Dallin (4 months). I love doing things outdoors especially hunting, fishing, camping, and jogging. I also love to cook and I have an associates degree in culinary arts. Most of all I enjoy spending time with my wife and children.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many different reasons. I was born and raised as a member of this church. However, that is not why I continue to be a member today. I am a member of this church today because the spirit has witnessed to me that it is true. This did not happen all at once in a big "ah hah" moment like many people think it should. It has happened slowly through little experiences when I have felt through the spirit that it is true. I have seen the way that following the Savior as the church teaches has blessed my life. I feel a peaceful spirit each time that I read the Book of Mormon and each time that I pray. I have been blessed many times as I have followed the counsel of our living prophets today. I am a Mormon because I know, through experiences that I have had throughout my life, that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. My testimony has come and continues to come step by step a little at a time. In a world that is full of evil and confusion it gives me great comfort to know that we have a prophet and 12 apostles who are inspired by God to instruct us on how to deal with the many difficult circumstances of our day.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith in many different ways. One thing that I try to do is to study the scriptures everyday. I especially try to spend a few minutes each day reading and studying the Book of Mormon. I am always amazed at the spirit that I feel each time I read that book. Along with my scripture study I try to remember to pray every morning and night as well as before each meal. Every Monday night we have what we call family home evening. This is a night that is dedicated to spending time as a family. We usually have a short spiritual thought and then we do some kind of an activity as a family. Another way that I live my faith is by serving in the Church. I currently serve as the president of the Sunday School program in our congregation. This means I organize all of the Sunday School classes as well as train the teachers. It is a blessing to be able to work with others in the ward to help ensure that everyone has an uplifting experience as they attend Sunday School classes each Sunday. I also serve as a home teacher. This means that I am assigned to visit three families in the congregation each month. When we visit each month we share a spiritual message as well as check with the family to see if there is anyway that we can help them. I always feel the spirit as I take time to serve in my church responsibilities. It is a great blessing to be able to serve my brothers and sisters. Another big thing that I do to try and live my faith is to participate in our church meetings each week. Whenever asked to teach a lesson, give a talk, go visit a family, or whatever else it may be I I try to serve however I can. One other way that I try to live my faith is by sharing what I know about the church with others. Being a member of this church is the greatest blessing in my life and I want everyone to have the opportunity to know about it and participate in it if they wish.
