Hi I'm Troy

I'm a husband, father, wellness guy, author, flag football coach, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After high school, I did not plan to attend college but my friend called me out of the blue and asked me to try-out with him for the baseball team at a college operated by the Church. We both made the team and I played for two years. Ironically, wasn't planning on attending college but because of my friend and one phone call, I wound up becoming a college professor! This taught me the power of small and simple things. That phone call changed my educational and occupational goals. While at college, I found myself surrounded by other young people who understood the purpose of life and who knew what they wanted out of life. That experience changed me. I later served a two year mission to Canada that further changed me.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are Mormons. My fathers family goes back to the very beginning of the church. My ancestor, James Lake Jr. was introduced to the restored gospel by Brigham Young. My mother converted when she was in High School. I was born a Mormon but I actually BECAME a devote Mormon in college. It was there that I learned that the gospel of Jesus Christ has the power to change hearts and lives.

How I live my faith

I am the Ward Mission Leader. That means that I work with Full-time missionaries who have been sent to my local geographic area (called a Ward). I attend church, I engage in private devotion and I try very hard to be a good example. I hope others can see how much I love my Heavenly Father and His Son when they look into my eyes.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes i do. We are told in Hebrews 1:1 that calling and communicating through a prophet is the pattern that God has always used. Why should it be any different today? Show more Show less
