Hi I'm George

I'm a Mormon. I was born in Grantsville, Utah and spent 2 years in Australia telling people about my church.

About Me

I was born in Grantsville, Utah and have been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all my life. When I was 19 years old I served a mission for the Church in Australia for two years. It was a wonderful experience and a great education. I loved telling people about God's plan and purpose for His children as revealed it through a living prophet in our day. I have a strong conviction that what I taught then was true. My belief and testimony of that has never changed. Along with my family, my church membership and association is the most valuable thing in my life. My wife, Sharon and I (ages 64 & 63) love to travel. We especially love spending time in our 5th-wheel camper when we can. We enjoy hiking. Our golf game is slowing down but we still enjoy it occasionally. Most of all we just enjoy being with each other and with good friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is God's truth revealed to man on the earth about the purpose of life. I have found this out for myself. (See my later comments for details)

How I live my faith

True religion is service to others. Jesus said: "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples... if ye have love one to another." As an active member of the church I accept opportunities to serve my family, my fellow Latter-day Saints and to serve others often.

What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

Mormons believe that God has restored the true Church of Jesus Christ to the earth in the latter days. When Jesus was upon the earth, along with His great atonement for the sins of mankind, he established a church to bring that message to mankind. He ordained apostles and other officers. The church was to continue and spread. But... the apostles were killed and, in general, the people rejected the gospel message. The priesthood authority of God was lost from the earth. All that remained was remnants of the truth. Out of the remnants of Christianity camd the Catholic Church and, eventually, the protestant churches. But the authority of God and many truths of the gospel had been lost. There would need to be a restoration of the true church prior to Jesus Christ's 2nd coming. That restoration took place in 1830 when the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized. The restoration of the Church included the restoration of Priesthood Authority to baptize and give the Gift of the Holy Ghost. It included the calling of a prophet of God to lead His church and a Quorum of 12 Apostles to serve with that prophet. It included the restoration of many truths which had been lost including the loving and kind nature of God and our pre-earth relationship to Him I know that these things are true. The true Church of Jesus Christ has been restored. We have a living prophet guiding us today. Great blessings await those who find these things out for themselves. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was born in 1805. He was reared in a family of faith. While still a very young man, Joseph desired to know what he needed to do for the salvation of his own soul. He specifically wanted to know which church was "true" and which he should join. After considerable thought and discussion and while reading the Bible to seek guidance he came to James 1:4 which states: "If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God who giveth to all men liberally..." He pondered on this idea again and again. Joseph finally did as the scripture suggested and approached God in prayer. He was called to do a great work -- the restoration of Christ's true church to the earth. As evidence of this great call and this great work, Joseph was given the task of translating an ancient volume of scripture. This became The Book of Mormon -- Another Testimony of Christ. It is evidence of Joseph's callas a propehet of God. I have found out for myself that Joseph Smith was called to be a great prophet and do a great work for God. Like many prophets of God before, he gave his life for his beliefs and sealed his works with his blood when he was martyred by a lawless mob when he was only 38 years old. Show more Show less
