Hi I'm Shawn

I love my kids. I love my beautiful wife. I enjoy my business. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a proud father of three, graduate student, and one lucky husband. I played college football and love athletics, fly-fishing, road biking, reading, sushi, date-night with my wife, and rough-housing with my boys. I own a fundraising business and love making a difference in young peoples' lives. What I love -- listening to my wife sing to our children at night when she thinks no one else is listening.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with amazing parents who taught us the gospel by example. I can never recall my dad ever giving us a sermon on prayer, but I do remember countless times of seeing him kneeling down at the couch late at night when no one else was around. I grew up with the Church, but my story really began when I left home and went to college. I left Colorado and went to Logan, Utah. I went there to play football for the Aggies and gain my education. Most likely in that order. It was the first time in my life I was on my own. I began attending religious classes offered by the Church at the Institute of Religion on campus. From there I decided I needed to know if the gospel was true for myself. I lived in the dorms with 5 other guys. I remember going into the storage closet for solace and reading the scriptures. I felt a peace and a joy I really hadn't felt before. I learned how much my Heavenly Father loved me and how much he expected of me. I felt like He knew me and was watching over me. I realized that Christ had given everything not only for all mankind, but for me personally. I gave up a scholarship and decided the knowledge I gained had to be shared. Christ had done so much for me the least I could do was share my knowledge with others. I served a mission for the LDS Church in southwest England and Wales for 2 years. It was the best 2 years for my life. I was able to share with people answers to the 3 most important questions about life. I saw families come together and fathers and mothers become better parents. I treasure those moments.

How I live my faith

By caring for and teaching my family. My wife and I talk about how blessed we are to have such great children. It isn't easy in the world we live in to raise strong upright children, but there is so much riding on it. Spending quality worthwhile time together is so important for us. There are few things as precious as hearing our little children kneel in prayer and talk to our Heavenly Father. That's where real happiness is found. I love helping youth. I get to teach Sunday school for the 14 and 15 year-olds. We are studying the New Testament this year. My favorite part --I love reading from the Gospels, reading about Christ's life. I want to bring the scriptures to life and encourage our youth to make the right choices at this awkward time in their lives.
