Hi I'm Bret

I'm a husband, and a father. I love spending time outdoors with family, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Idaho. I married my high school sweetheart, and we have 4 great kids. We have lived in ID, MN, AZ, and CA. I've traveled to many parts of the world, and have degrees in Engineering and Business. I currently manage an Aerospace company in AZ, and in my free time I love to spend time outdoors with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS church and I have a rich heritage of family in the church. My testimony as a youth was borrowed from others, and I was married in the Idaho Falls temple. Despite this I needed to find out for myself if the church was true. I studied the scriptures, and prayed for this answer. The answer came about the time we had our first child. I knew at this time the teachings were true, and that these values were what I wanted to instill in my family. This Church is led by Jesus Christ through a prophet of God. I know this through the Holy Spirit which has touched my heart. I also know that when I live by the word of God, study, pray, and serve others that my life is enriched.

How I live my faith

I realize that none of us are perfect, and everyone has their own hill to climb. I don't judge others for their faults, and I strive to be a friend. I try to spend time each day with the scriptures, and I pray for guidance. I spend time visiting people in my area monthly, and I volunteer to serve others when the opportunities arise. I teach lessons and give talks on Sundays when called upon. I carry high standards with me to work, and believe that honesty is the best policy. I strive to prioritize with a family first mentality, and firmly believe that no success can compensate for failure in the home.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Bret
Marriage is not easy and requires personal sacrifice on many occasions. However, I know that marriage between a man and woman is ordained of God, and the family unit is central to God's plan. We are taught to leave our parents and to cleave unto our spouse. As husband and wife we have the responsibility to love and care for each other (for eternity). We also have a sacred duty as parents to rear our children in love and righteousness. The mother and father although may fill different roles in the home share equal responsibility in making sure that the children feel loved and learn God's plan for them. Show more Show less
