Hi I'm Sheldon

I've lived my whole life in Arizona. I just finished high school . I am a Mormon.

About Me

I just recently finished high school. I enjoy being outdoors and love riding motorcycles. I'm excited to see what adventures will come next in my life and am preparing to go on a mission. I plan to go college although like a lot of people my age am not quite sure what I want to do yet. Right now I work with my Dad helping in his business removing trees stumps and demolition. I have a sister going to college and a younger sister in high school.

Why I am a Mormon

Well I was born into a member family. Like most people born into a certain religion they usually stay with it. Why I am still a Mormon is different. I am still because I know without doubt that it is true. I have read the Book of Mormon several times and have come to know for myself it is true. I have seen the role that the Savior plays in my life and know that this is his church and that its true. I know he leads this church through a Prophet. He calls people to further his work. He has given man the power to act in his name. He blesses us with temples providing for blessings and ordinances such as families being together forever to be preformed. I know that he loves me and knows me and that he will bless me as I follow him. I know that at times my faith will be tested but that as it is tested it can grow.

How I live my faith

This question is really intersting. Like most all things in life you can claim something or say that you are something but actions speak louder than words. Im now a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. I have come to have a better understanding since being called to serve and preach the Gospel. To me living my faith means exercising my faith. Im serving a mission because I have seen and felt the blessings that come from living the Gospel. As I have lived the commandments and tried out for myself the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ I feel peace. My life has direction. I know that the things I am doing though I might not have a perfect knowledge of them will allow me to be safe, to be happy and not just for a little while but for eternity. The teachings of the Gospel the things that I teach as a missionary are bold but they are true. If you want to know for yourself try it. Read the Book of Mormon as you read your faith in Christ will grow if you sincerely desire to know and to follow him. Try it out live the principles taught and God will bless you.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Sheldon
There are several reasons why new members of the church are baptised. Baptisim is a covenant and is known as the first step to making other covenants with God. Jesus Christ was baptised so by a new member being baptised it represents their desire to follow his example and be more like him. When we are baptised we covenant to take upon us the name of Christ. In so doing we are saying that the things we do and say will be in harmony with what he would do or say if he were here today. Lastly, it is through baptism that we are cleansed from sin. When you are burried in the water it is representative of being cleansed from sin. When you are baptised it represents your sins being washed away and you are clean. It is like having a clean slate spotless and pure it is referred to as a rebirth not physically but spiritually you are clean and have commited through baptism to live your life differently.
