Hi I'm Sarah

I am from Ventura, California, I love to play soccer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California and soccer was my life. I played for a very competitive high school team for two years. I started in every game, and practiced all the time. Soccer was my life. Then one day the unthinkable happened, I was cut from the team. I was very quickly forced to reevaluate my priorities, my time was now my own and I had no idea what to do with it. Soon afterward, the Lord placed a job in my path that defined who I was to become. The job was as a respite care worker for a family in my home ward. They asked me to look after their two young children once a week so they could take that time to go to the temple. I was overwhelmed and under qualified, but my interactions with this amazing family taught me more than I ever thought I could learn. As I saw them, week after week, dedicate their time and services to the Lord and His house, my own priorities were clarified and I was able to discover who I was and what I stood for.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a little girl, around seven, my family took a trip to Hawaii. On the flight there I got a very painful earache and was quite miserable. That first night, as I wept, unable to sleep, my dad offered to give me a Priesthood blessing. He did so and immediately the pain subsided enough that I could sleep, and in the morning it was completely gone. A few years later, when I was in seventh grade, I went on a trip to New York with my school, and it lined up so that we would be near Palmyra, on April 6th. My mom arranged for us to go to the Sacred Grove that day, along with a few other historical church sites and I was convinced that once there, I would receive one huge spiritual revelation that would sustain me for the rest of my life. So I sat and waited. And waited. And waited. And what happened next, I have carried with me throughout my life, but it was not the grand revelation I had sought. It was a small and simple affirmation from the Holy Ghost that I already knew this church was of God. That I didn't need one huge moment because I had already had hundreds of affirmations of the Spirit that the church was true and that it was where I belonged. I had known since my daddy exercised his Priesthood power and fixed my earache when I was just a little girl. I had known long before that and I will always know because the Lord is ever present in my life. He grants me daily breath. My whole world, and the world at large, is an everlasting testimony of the love that Jesus Christ has for us. And that is why I am, and always will be, a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission in the Philippines, Quezon City Norht mission! I am in the MTC and can not wait to get to the Philippines to serve and love the people there! I am serving because I have been so blessed by the gospel and I want to invite others to partake of that same blessing. I am leaving my friends, family, school, and work for 18 months so that others can be with their families for all eternity.
