Hi I'm Cameron

I grew up on a wheat farm in Kansas. I helped develop the VistA healthcare software for the VA. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband, father and a grandfather. I enjoy traveling, hiking, kayaking, swimming, reading books, science and travel magazines.

Why I am a Mormon

All my life I have known that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. I was raised in the Baptist church (American Baptist Convention) and had a strong religious upbringing from my parents. But I did have questions that needed answers. I knew that God the Father had to be more than just a spirit. And since His only begotten Son was resurected with a physical body, so too my Heavenly Father must have a body. I found after years of watching and learning about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that many of the questions I had were similar to the questions that Joseph Smith had. Is there one true church? What is the nature of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost? Is baptism really necessary? What about those who have lived and died but never heard the Gospel nor had a chance to be baptised by one having authority? What does it mean to have authority in the Church of Jesus Christ? Who has that authority and how is it confered? It took me almost ten years of investigating the Church, but I finally had enough courage to pray with sincerity and ask of God if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. Then and ever since I knew and know that the Church is indeed true! It is lead by a living prophet and apostles called of God.

How I live my faith

People who have questions or need help using the Church's Internet services for finding information about their ancestors can call 1-866-406-1830 (or other toll free numbers in other countries) to get help. As a Church Service Missionary, I get to answer their calls.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Jesus Christ directed Joseph Smith to re-establish the Church of Jesus Christ. To contrast its relationship to the early Church, the Lord directed that it should be named The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly referred to as the "Mormon Church." Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We cannot pay for, earn or work our way to having a resurrected body united with our spirits. Jesus Christ's victory over death is complete for ALL who have lived, live and will live, will stand in the flesh before God at the Last Judgment. That is one aspect of His grace. But we must repent and can neither pay for nor buy repentance. However, repentance certainly requires that we DO something different (and "do" implies some kind of work in our collaboration with Jesus Christ and His Atonement … that’s another part of His grace). As for any further added rewards for OUR good works, well, the scriptures are full of positive references in that regard. Of course, such rewards can neither be bought nor paid for ... it's not that kind of work! And those rewards show His grace in abundance. Show more Show less
