Hi I'm Marv Brinkerhoff

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 64 years old and have a wonderful wife. We will have been married 40 years. We have been blessed with 6 great children, 4 sons and 2 daughters. All have married wonderful companions and have at least one child. We have a total of 17 grandchildren. Although we both grew up in Utah we lived 10 years in California and for the last 29 years have been in Oregon. I was born on a farm in southern Utah, graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in accounting, then later received an MBA in Finance from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. I served 2 1/2 years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hong Kong. I learned the Cantonese dialect of Chinese and learned to love the people. My career began as a CPA with Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte & Touche) in San Francisco. I then moved to Consolidated Feightways, a large transportation company where I spent the next 30 years in their finance organization. After a very fulfilling career I retired December 31, 2005. I have served in various position in the Church and am currently serving as an Area Seventy in the North America Northwest Area. I enjoy serving others and especially love staying in touch with our family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and grew up attending Church meetings and activities because my parents expected it and my friends did also. As I left home to attend college I came to realize that the lifestyle the Church teaches had great benefit for me. Then as I chose to serve as a missionary for the Church and saw the gospel of Jesus Christ work in the lives of those I taught, I came to realize that the LDS Church was truly the Church of Jesus Christ and that its teachings were those of the Savior. That testimony has continues to grow as I returned home, married, pursued a career and remain active in the Church.

How I live my faith

Currently, my Church calling is to work closely with church leaders in Oregon and help them in their responsibilities to preside over large groups of members. I also attend large member conferences throughout the northwestern part of the United States. In this responsibility I give talks and teach gospel principles which encouraging leaders and members to more fully live their faith. In addition, I serve as a home teacher to two assigned families in my local church unit.
