Hi I'm Kellie

I grew up in Houston, Texas. I'm a writer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife and a mother of five great kids. I love to read, write, sew, quilt, and play boardgames. I graduated in history and English in college and still love learning.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in southeast Texas where I was one of very few Mormons in my high school. I spent a lot of time answering questions from my friends and from kids I didn't know, but who'd heard I was Mormon. I figured that if I was going to be answering questions every week about what I believe and what the Church teaches, I needed to know the truth. I read The Book of Mormon and prayed about it, I prayed frequently to feel the Holy Spirit when answering my friends' questions, and I asked lots of questions to the local Church leaders so I could learn and understand more. I was blessed to feel the Spirit answer my prayers and teach me that The Book of Mormon is the word of God and that Joseph Smith was truly a prophet of God.

How I live my faith

I have been active in many areas of the Church. I have served in the nursery with children 18 months to 3 years old. I have taught lessons for both the Sunday School and the women's class, called Relief Society. I've served in the youth group and sung in the choirs. Most recently I have been blessed with the opportunity to help plan activities for the women's group. I help plan and carry out activities that are fun and spiritually uplifting and I love it.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Kellie
I served as a missionary in British Columbia for 19 months. As we entered people's homes we talked to them about the love God and Christ have for them. We talked about the plan God has for His children, to have joy and return to Him. We shared our testimonies of Christ, His divinity, and His mission on earth. We taught people about the basics of our religion: families, tithing, the law of health we live by called the Word of Wisdom, and the importance of baptism by one who has the proper authority from God.
