Hi I'm Kathleen

I grew up in Washington D.C. and I am a mother of three. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated with a degree in Forestry and a concentration in Biology. A year or so after I got married and then had my first child I decided to stay home to raise him and the next two children who came along. I love to read uplifting novels and do gardening. I am trying to learn more about square foot gardening so that my family can be more self sufficient. I also have a goal to learn how to sew as another means of being self sufficient.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert and I joined soon after my second child was born. I had been investigating churches for many years and a friend of mine indicated to me how the family was the central point of this church and that Jesus Christ was the cornerstone. I loved that idea, especially since my mother had recently passed away and I worried about what happened to her. I had also never thought that the "Mormon" church was a christian church. When I requested a copy of the Book of Mormon, the missionaries brought it to me and talked with me about the church. Something inside me told me to keep listening, so I invited them back. I began reading the Book of Mormon and knew that it was another testament of Jesus Christ and that it was true. I also knew that I could be together with my mom again. After deep and heartfelt prayer I received a wonderful feeling in my heart that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that his only intention was to help us, humans, to be closer to God and to help our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ restore the gospel and all that had been lost throughout the ages.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being active in my community and by helping out at my children's schools. I am a visiting teacher where I have families I visit monthly to share a message about the gospel and help them with any needs they may have such as taking care of their children, bringing them meals and other ways. I actively participate at my church by helping organize events for Cub Scouts and in any other ways I am asked to help. I offer my services freely to my church without request for any type of compensation.
