Hi I'm Kazumi

I was born & raised in Japan until 11. I came to the US; became a business woman & a psychotherapist. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, my name is Kazumi and I am a wife, mother, and a professional person. I was born in Tokyo, Japan a little over 60 years ago. I grew up like any normal Japanese girl, except that my grandma and grandpa raised me while my single mother went to work. My mother married an American in the Army, and I was brought to the US at age 11. There were numerous moves and adventures being an "Army brat" but after being in Mass, NY, and Germany, finally settled in California at age 15. I graduated high school near Ft. Ord, CA, and because I did well in high school, I entered and graduated from University of California at Berkeley. I was always an ambitious person, wanting to have accomplishments in life. I was self supporting throughout my educational pursuits and went to school through scholarships, loans, grants, but most of all working at odd jobs and part-time jobs. I graduated with a BA in Political Science, and after working for a while, went back again to UC Berkeley for a master's degree, this time in Business Administration. I climbed the corporate ladder, became an Asst Vice President. After various difficulties, I dropped out of the business world, went back for Masters in Counseling/Psychology, and became a licensed marriage and family therapist. Being a wife was always desirable, but being a mother was a thought that was far in the back of my mind. I delayed having children, and finally realized it was important as a woman. I had a daughter at age 45 and a son at 48.

Why I am a Mormon

First I was intrigued by the concept of “Families are Forever” mainly because my own family was not ideal. I met the missionaries, studied with them, and became baptized. After a few years of being active, I fell away and stayed away from 1985 to 2007, almost 22 years. During those 22 years, I had many good things but many more bad things happen to me. When I decided to return, the road back was also very hard. It took lots of motivation and a strong desire to be at a better place. I had to first move all my furniture from one location to another. I was a single mother of two small kids, the two kids were starting to act out, and when I lost my job, I was beginning to lose the house too. Everything was difficult. Luckily, I had an angel come to my rescue. She got me back to being active in the church, got the bishop to help me with peripheral expenses, and got me to get temple recommend and endowed. She also encouraged me to find a worthy priesthood holder mate. Without her, I would not have done all the things that required me to do to come back to becoming an active member of the church. I am a Mormon because I want to go back to live with our Heavenly Father some day. I want my partner and I to be together in love forever, and continue to learn and grow, to have eternal increase together. I want a good and happy life filled with God’s blessings while here on earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith though daily diligence and doing my best to do what our Heavenly Father instructs me to do. I listen to his "still small voice" and do the best I can to do what I must. I pray with my husband nightly for my friends and family members. He prays on behalf of the both of us in the morning before he leaves for work. I know that our marriage and relationship is the most important, and as long as that is healthy, I know we can overcome everything and anything that life and Satan can send our way. We are both Sooo very glad that our Heavenly Father sent both of us to each other. I follow all the Commandments, live according to the Gospel, observe the Word of Wisdom. I pray morning and night, and many times inbetween. I am an active member, attending church every Sunday, participate fully in visit teaching and other callings, pay my full tithing, and strive to live more like Jesus every day.
