Hi I'm Stephanie

I love music, reading and dancing in the kitchen with my kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Washington State and love the great northwest! I graduated from BYU in 2001 in Early Childhood Education and now I'm a wife and mom. Motivated by my son who has special needs, I volunteer for a non-profit organization, which helps me stay on top of the latest research and educational tools. In my spare time I love to cook, learn more about photography and read.

Why I am a Mormon

My Dad's family have been members of the church several generations back, but my mom grew up Catholic and converted in their first year of marriage. Her experience of searching for answers and finally finding something that felt right has always been inspiring to me. However, as I got older I started to realize I needed to know for myself whether or not the church was right for me and for my future. As I went through trying times and searched and prayed for answers they were always there. Not in huge ways, but just a sense of calm that my path was right. I know that Jesus is our Savior, who provided a way for us to be truly happy. I also know that God is a loving Heavenly Father who cares about us just as I care for my own children; He wants us to be happy. I love knowing that God is not a being separated from our lives, but one who cares about each one of us, individually. He cares enough to give us guidelines and rules to follow with the freedom to choose for ourselves. I'm always grateful for and happy about the choice I've made.

How I live my faith

Currently, I work with the young children in what we call the primary organization, which is Sunday School for youth ages 18 months - 11 years old. One of the things I love about the church is how Heavenly Father allows us opportunities for growth, as well as learning humility. I'm working in a leadership role right now, but next I could be asked to play piano or teach the adult Sunday School class. I try to take each opportunity as an opportunity to learn something about myself and how I can use my skills or learn some new ones. Plus, serving others in many different ways is a great way to follow Christ's example of learning to love our neighbors. It's through serving that we are truly humbled.
