Hi I'm Tamra

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an elementary teacher at heart ~ Special Ed...but I am currently being a homemaker! My youngest son is in high school and as we prayed about whether I should be home or at school (as we do every year before I sign another contract), the answer was to stay home while my youngest son is in high school. I am enjoying tending my 3 year old grand-daughter about once a week & taking a ceramics class with my middle daughter at the local college! I have been married for 25 years & I have to say that our life & love together get better with each passing year! I love to scrapbook, make cards and read!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church...but as everyone has to do, I got my own testimony when I turned 20 & then fully gave myself to our Savior. As a youth I learned about having an eternal marriage & that is what I set my goal for. Something about turning 20 made me realize that I needed to start living my life in a way that would attract someone who also wanted an eternal marriage. So with my parents help, I spent my fourth year in college at BYU-Hawaii & I was lucky enough to have met the man of my dreams there! We both love serving the Lord Jesus Christ in whatever ways we can.

How I live my faith

I currently work in the women's organization in our church. I am in charge of the Sunday meetings...getting teachers and music lined up. Previously I have worked with the young women and with the younger children, teaching them and going to girls camp and other activities. I am lucky to get to have my mom as my visiting teaching companion! We go and visit about 4 sisters each month to check up on them, encourage their testimonies of Christ, and offer service in any way we can. We truly come to love those we serve! I love reading the scriptures every day and praying to my Heavenly Father. I know He always hears my prayers and answers in the way He sees fit. I strive to live by all His teachings, commandments, and the promptings He gives me through the Holy Ghost. Having the gift of the Holy Ghost is one of the greatest treasures in my life!

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

No, we help anyone who needs help! ... all throughout the world! That is what the Savior did, love and serve while He was on the earth...that is what we strive to do, love and serve all that we can. Our first modern day prophet, Joseph Smith, taught that we are to "feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all."
