Hi I'm Jon

I'm from Rexburg, Idaho, I am a fan of making strange noises, an avid paintballer, a lover of any food, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving as a missionary in the New York Utica Mission. I get this wonderful opportunity to share this wonderful message to anyone that will listen and ponder upon it. I have good sized family, with parents and four other siblings. My dad is currently serving another tour in Iraq, who I am extremely proud of. I am quite fond of movies and books, and love entertainment in just about any form. I love being a little crazy also, and making a lot of weird faces and funny noises. It always spices up any occasion. I also love doing stuff outside. I am a paintballer and have had many opportunities to play with all kind of people in all kinds of locations. Paintballing is probably my passion, and I love just going out with friends and enjoying a good afternoon of competitive play. Outside is good. I also love to go camping and hunting. Anything that gets me under the warm sun.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the faith, but not always did I know the teachings of the church. For the first seven years of my life, I knew next to nothing about it, besides small pieces that were slipped in here and there. However, that changed when missionaries came to visit, and got my mom convinced that she needed to return to church. I learned about what they were trying to teach and why they thought it was so important, and made the choice myself to be baptized. However, at that point, most of my testimony was still borrowed from someone else. I don't think there was a real moment that just everything fit into place, or a shining light, or miraculous event that persuaded me to belief. I know it was just by small continuous steps that put me in the right direction. Just doing those really small things, and being diligent at doing them, like reading scriptures, and going to church, and trying to have family prayer started that process to get me where I am at now. I learned the church was true by praying and asking for my own spiritual witness that it was true through the small, peaceful voice that the Holy Ghost uses to work upon my heart and mind.

How I live my faith

Right now I have a chance to serve full time as a missionary. I get the chance to teach people about the true nature of God, and his tender mercies to his children that he loves so much. I also get to teach about the plan of salvation, and how it is God's work and glory to get his children to return to live with him again. The chance to speak to people about the gospel has given me a way to come closer to the gospel. I have learned as I teach. I have learned the value of loving people without regard, and whole-heartedly, how to serve my fellow man in any way I can, and I have seen wonderful small miracles as I have been able to among people that are also striving to find the truth in their life so that they can have the blessings of peace and joy.
