Hi I'm Joy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I would best describe myself as a loyal, dedicated wife, mother, friend and woman. My family is everything to me and I would do anything for them. I am a stay at home mom after working 21 years in the retail world. I have my bachelor degree and some graduate school classes so I value education. I love to read, shop, play with my dogs and craft (a little). I also try to play golf but am not that good at it. I am involved in our areas Newcomer Ladies group and have served many roles in the club. I volunteer helping out a terminally ill teenager and his mom on a weekly basis. I am so blessed in my life with a wonderful family, great friends and good health. I know that since joining the church in 2003 my life has forever changed for the better and as I try to live my life based on the teachings and standards of the church I am a happier person!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Catholic but didn't realize until I was 33 that what I had believed of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit being three separate beings was not what the Catholic church believed but what the Mormon church believes. I had met a wonderful man and through him, his children and some very patient missionaries I came to know the truth of the Mormon church and its doctrines. I was baptized in September of 2003 and have been so blessed ever since. I married that wonderful man who introduced me to the church. We combined our families and have never looked back. I love the fact that we can be an eternal family and the values that the church has taught our children. I know that I am a daughter of Heavenly Father and that He loves me! I have a testimony of forgiveness. We are not perfect and can only be perfected through the Savior Jesus Christ. I make mistakes all the time but I continue to strive to be a better person and am blessed in my efforts. Life can be difficult at times, we all have our trials in life but knowing I am not alone and that my Heavenly Father is with me gives me the faith I need to get through it. He is directing my life with His plan for me....I just need to trust Him!

How I live my faith

I love the church and the way it is set up to use the strengths of the members to teach and organize. I have been involved with the youth mostly since becoming a member. I love working with the teens of the church. They are the future and face such temptations and adversity in the world today. I have been blessed to work with the young men and women as they develop their own testimony and work through the decisions that lay in front of them. I feel their strength in their standards and values and as they live them it strengthens me. I feel like I learn so much when I prepare to teach them...what a blessing in my life to have a calling to teach the youth of the church. I am also a first hand witness to how awesome the church programs are for the family. Being a blended family with converts I have seen others teach and support my children through some rough times and trials. Their leaders were just a phone call away when parents were not who they wanted to talk to. I am thankful for the example they were for my kids and the advice they were able to give.
