Hi I'm Troy

I'm an avid sports fan, an Accounting student, a husband and father, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I lead a fairly busy but extremely rewarding life. I work full time in the field of Finance and am currently working on finishing my Bachelors Degree in Accounting. I have a beautiful wife and daughter and a son due on March 7, 2011. I am a passionate sports fan both for the collegiate and professional level. Along with my church service I stay very busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Why I am a Mormon

This is a very loaded question and I could spend a long time giving all the reasons as to why I am a Mormon. I will try to summarize as best as I can. I am a Mormon because the Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought so much joy to my life. I have peace in knowing my worth as a child of God as well as a sense of purpose about why I am here on Earth and what will happen to me and my family after we die. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the world and that our only hope for returning to our Heavenly Father's presence lies in Christ's atoning sacrifice. I believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church of Jesus Christ restored on the earth in our day. I believe the Book of Mormon is the word of God as it was translated by Joseph Smith the Prophet. I believe that we have a living prophet on the earth today named Thomas S. Monson. There are so many more reasons, but these are some of my most fundamental beliefs. What's most important to me is how I came to know each of these things to be true. I have prayed to my Heavenly Father and have felt the Holy Ghost testify of the truth. I believe that each of us on earth are capable of discovering truth for ourselves if we only ask in sincerity. I do not ask anyone to take my word for it nor do I accept truth just because those I know or trust declare it to be so. I am a Mormon because I have made the Gospel of Jesus Christ a part of my life and have witnessed time and time again the blessings to not only myself, but others whom I have served. I promise anyone reading this that it is 100% worth your time to take the time and make the effort to study the teachings of the church. There is nothing to be lost by doing so, but the happiness that is to be found is incredible. I love being a Mormon!

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ gave us the ultimate example of how to live. If we take after his example, we know that we should fill our lives with service to others. Being a Mormon or any other disciple of Jesus Christ doesn't just mean that we go to church on Sunday and call it good. We are called to serve all those around us. As the Book of Mormon prophet Benjamin taught us, "when ye are in the service of your fellow man, ye are only in the service of your God." Being a Mormon has given me more opportunities to serve others than I could possibly remember. I have participated in moves, sod-laying parties, Christmas caroling to Nursing Homes, flood relief, visiting the terminally ill, spending 2 years in Europe as a missionary teaching and serving the people of France, Switzerland, and Luxembourg, packing and distributing food to the needy, dropping presents or goodies at the doorstep of needy families, and so much more. I consider it an honor and a blessing to serve in whatever way I am asked to. Whether I was a Mormon or not, I would consider a life without service to be empty and incomplete. I believe that through service we are also blessed, and I strongly believe that when we are called to judgement, the manner in which we served others will carry a ton of weight in the eyes of our Savior.
