Hi I'm Bruce

I grew up in Daytona Beach and am a social worker who works with blind and visually impaired veterans.

About Me

I have been married for over 30 years, have 5 children and 2 grandchildren. I enjoy reading, watching sports, biking, traveling to national and state parks. Going to the beach and the fresh water springs in Florida are great too!!

Why I am a Mormon

I have received a spiritual witness that Jesus is the Christ and that he has restored his gospel on the earth in preparation for his second coming through the prophet Joseph Smith. The understanding of where I came from, why I am here and where I will go when this life ends has helped me live a life with purpose and meaning. Knowing that my family can be eternal has allowed me to put things in perspective when facing the challenges that come into everyone's life. The standards set forth by living prophets have been a source of blessing and safety for me and my family. This is why after over 55 years I am and continue to be a Mormon!!

How I live my faith

I attend weekly meetings at church and serve in a leadership position in our local congregation (ward) coordinating the efforts of the brethren in meeting the needs of our members as well as promoting family history work. As a home teacher I visit members of our congregation on at least a monthly basis. We hold a family home evening weekly and read scriptures and pray together on a regular basis. We attend the Orlando Florida Temple and attend weekly sacrament and other Sunday meetings.

How does the Church finance its operations?

Bruce
We finance the operations of the church by voluntarily keeping the law of the tithe. We pay 10% of our income to the church as tithing. We help the poor and needy by paying a fast offering once a month. There are other activities that we suppport as well by free will offerings for missionary work, humanitarian relief efforts, education funding and temple construction. These are always done privately and collections are not part of our sacrament meetings. Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Bruce
As we come into this world the Lord knew that we would make choices that were contrary to the commandments These sins keep us from being able to live again with our heavenly father. The savior took upon himself our sins that will allow us to overcome the physical and spiritual death that came into the world as part of the fall of Adam and Eve. While all will live again after this life thanks to the atonement of Christ, we must accept Christ, have faith in him and accept the ordinances of baptism to overcome the spiritual death or separation from God after this life.
