Hi I'm Richard

I am a huge outdoors fan and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in Idaho, I absolutely love the outdoors. There is nothing prettier than a beautiful morning in the mountains. I love fishing, hunting anything that takes place off the beaten path. I am a talented artist, I love drawing wildlife. I grew up on a farm, my uncle farms about 1000 acres and my Dad owns about 30 head of black angus. I will soon be leaving home to go to college.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church. There has not been a convert in my family since the 1800's. But that is not why I am a Mormon, I am an active Mormon who lives his belief because Ii have no doubt of the truth. I have read the Book of Mormon multiple times, I continue to read it daily, I am convinced that you will not find a better read anywhere on earth. But it's more than just a good book, it is the word of God. I have the witness of the spirit to that. It is because I have that knowledge that I continue to stay active in the church and live my beliefs. If I did not have that knowledge there would be no point. It is because I know that this is Gods church that I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Well, for starters, I just barely returned from serving two years as a full time missionary in Detroit. There I testified daily of the truth of this work and worked as hard as I could to help others find the same joy I have found through the gospel of Jesus Christ. I went places in Detroit that even the police wnon't go sharing this great message. We had the protection of the Lord. For those who know Detroit, I stayed in an apartment at Greenfield and Fenkel, not exactly the safest hood around. Now that I have been released as a full time missionary, as well as before my mission, I study the scriptures daily, I try to spend at least one hour a day reading them. I search for opportunities to share the thing which brings me the most joy. I try to share it in a way that others will not feel I am trying to push them, because I am not, I simply know that this has brought me and I know it will do the same for them and I want them to have that joy. I have been assigned to teach a Sunday school class to help others share the gospel the same way using the missionary guide preach my gospel. I do not do things others might consider normal or fun, most people know that Mormon don't smoke or drink, it was my knowledge of the gospel that helped me get through high school without giving into peer pressure and picking up a chewing tobacco habit, as well as other things. I do not hunt or fish on Sunday, but I keep it as a day of rest and worship. I search for opportunities to serve others.

What is the First Vision?

The first vision is the experience had Joseph Smith had in 1820 when retired to a grove of tree to pray and ask which church he should join, acting upon what he had learned in James 1:5, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God". He knelt down and offered up the desires of his heart and had a simply remarkable experience "I saw a pillar of light, directly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which desended gradually until it fell upon me, when the light rested upon me I saw two personages, whose brightness and glory defy all desricption, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other, 'This is my beloved Son, hear him'" Those two personages where Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Joseph asked them which of all the many churches he should join, he was answered that he should join none of them, for they were all wrong, they pieces of the truth, but they lasked the fullness and the authority of the priesthood, he was called to be the prophet of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. At a later time he was able to recieve both the Aaronic and Melchezidek pristhoods and by heavenly messangers had sealed upon him all the keys and powers nesasary to operate the Lords church in the correct way.
