Hi I'm Blake

Born and raised in California, love any sport involving water, Ceramics is my hobby and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a son, middle child and have a fun family. I enjoy ceramics; I gained a love for clay in High School and now I just love throwing pottery on the wheel. My sport side includes swimming, and water polo; they are truly my favorite sports to play. I also enjoy snowboarding, surfing, and going to the lake and just having fun there with friends and family. I have started my college career and am loving it. In college the professors do make you think a lot about life and everything but that is what I love about pondering this stuff and growing my own testimony of how everything truly ties together.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the church my whole life but living in California you get to see all different walks of life, and make lots of friends through school, none of my best friends are Mormon but I enjoy hanging out with them none the less. I have had lots of chances to decline my beliefs, but every time I am asked a questions about the church and its beliefs I get the feeling that it is true. Sure, I question things everyday that is what makes us human and helps us grow and learn. I took the challenge of asking Heavenly Father if this church was the true church, when I was 18 living away from home for the first time in my life. The best part of that prayer is I received a personal answer. This is when I made my decisions to stick with the church because as I look back at my family and ancestors this Gospel has truly helped us grow together as a strong family and that is just one of the many reasons I love this church.

How I live my faith

I served as a missionary for 2 whole years in the New York Utica Mission, loved every single day spending it meeting new people and teaching them about the gospel. I am greatful for how much I, myself have grown in the Gospel and can't wait for the next chance to serve in the Church.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Plan and simple NO. We recognize him as a prophet of God just like Moses, John the Baptist and the many prophets in the Bible. What makes him so important is, he is a prophet of God that restored Jesus Christ's church under Christ's direction to the fullness in our day. He is a man just like anyone else except God has called him to be a prophet.  Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

It is a Christ-like lifestyle, we try to keep God's Commandments each day, this is the simplest way to put a Mormon lifestyle. We are just like everyone else work, play, study, hangout with friends, relax. The only difference truly is every thing we do we try to be Christ-like and not break a commandment he has given us. I live as a normal person, I think the only difference is that when I make a decision I think of what would Christ do, I am not perfect but we should try each day to be. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes we do! I have gained a love for the Bible these past few months as I have read both the Old and New Testaments for the first time cover to cover. It is amazing to see the truth that is contained within the pages. I do believe and view the Bible as Holy Scripture. Just because I believe in the Book of Mormon does not cause me to view the Bible as a less important book of scripture, it actually helps me gain a stronger testimony that the stories and doctrines taught within the Bible are true, real, and well bless my life.
