Hi I'm David Hunt

I teach sociology. I research topics in education. I enjoy golf. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with 4 kids, who have all moved away for college or have gotten married. It is exciting to see your kids grow up and become the kind of people you have always wanted them to be. My wife, Cathy, and I are adjusting to our new empty nest just fine. I enjoy teaching because of the opportunities to interact with students. I enjoy golf because it takes me away from everything and provides peace and solitude.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church, but my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ has come to me gradually. As I strive to keep the commandments and honor my priesthood, my testimony grows and becomes stronger. The Holy Ghost has born witness to me of the truthfulness of the gospel. I also had the opportunity with my extended family to tour church history sites. As I visited the Sacred Grove, and other places where Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith, I asked Heavenly Father about the truthfulness of the events that happened there and received a confirming witness from the Holy Ghost that it was true. Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. The Book of Mormon is true. The priesthood is the power to act in the name of God on earth.

How I live my faith

As I serve in the church, I get a great sense of fulfillment. It is not always easy, but I can usually see the blessings in my life or in the lives of people I serve. I have served in many callings, ranging from nursery and children's classes to youth classes to Bishop. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve. I also enjoy home teaching and going to visit members in their homes and teach them about the gospel.
