Hi I'm Randel McGee

I'm a ventriloquist, storyteller, author, husband, father, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a boy, I loved telling stories to my friends and acting out skits to make them laugh. I loved arts and crafts and making things with my hands. After my mission in Holland and Belgium I discovered puppetry was a wonderful way to combine all the things I enjoyed doing. My wife made me a dragon puppet as a gift and my career was launched! I have over 30 years of professional performing experience. My ventriloquist act of Randel McGee and Groark (the dragon) has taken me all around the USA and Asia sharing live performances with family audiences. Groark and I have two award-winning DVD series on character education for elementary school children. I also have an act portraying the world-famous author Hans Christian Andersen that has taken me to storytelling festivals and cultural events around the globe. I have written 12 books on paper crafts for the holidays for children to share my love for arts and crafts with others. Sharing talents with others is an important part of Mormon philosophy. My wife and I have five children who are all talented artists in their own right.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a young boy my family moved from Ohio to Utah for work. Most of my new friends at school would go to a local church for “Primary”, children’s Gospel instruction. I asked my mother if I could go too. Soon I was sharing with my mother the lessons I was learning about Gospel concepts she had never heard before. I have a firm conviction that there is a God, the Eternal Father of all the individual spirits, His children, on the Earth that he made. He knows me personally and loves me with a pure love. Because of that love He called His Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem all man-kind from the eternal consequences of death and sin. I accept Jesus Christ as my Savior and Redeemer and Exemplar. He literally rose from death with a glorified body and has made it possible for all mankind to do the same. I have felt the influence of the Holy Ghost. This member of the divine trio, or Godhead, has the incomprehensible ability to testify of God, the Father, and Jesus Christ and teach and guide all those that are open to His influence. I feel certain that The Father and Son have called prophets to be their representatives on the earth today as they did in ancient times. Joseph Smith was a prophet called in rather recent times. There are a prophet and apostles serving today. Joseph Smith translated The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ with divine guidance. This book is precious to me! I am convinced of its divinely inspired origin and messages. As I read this book, along with my Bible and other scriptures, I gain a deeper insight into the marvelous works of our God and His Son. I gain better insights as to how to live my life and bless the lives of my family and friends. I have studied other religions and philosophies and for my questions about the human experience I find the most and clearest answers in the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

Everything I do is an extension of my faith: how I relate to my friends and family, the way I treat people in all situations, how I feel about myself, are all tied to the belief that we are all children of a loving God. Before I walk out on a stage to perform, I say a prayer that what I do will uplift and bring a smile to everyone's face, that I might be an instrument for good in God's hands.
