Hi I'm William

I love the Lord, I love my family, and I love my life... I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a convert to the church. I was 19 when I got baptized. That was about 5 years ago. Since then, my life has never been the same. I am currently a missionary in California. I am a laid back guy who loves sports (specifically tennis), video games, camping, drawing, watching movies and listening to music. I have the best friends in the whole world. I'd do anything for my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Like I stated above, I joined the church about 5 years ago. My father converted to the church a few years after my parents got divorced. That happened when I was in 3rd grade. I believe the thing that attracted me most to the gospel was the change I saw in my father. He went from a man who I didn't really look up to a whole lot, to a man who I hope to be half as good as one day. So he started taking us to church with him when I was in 7th grade. That was the first experience I had with religion in my life. I never prayed or went to church growing up, but I had this belief buried deep within my soul that God lived and that He loved me. When I saw what He had done for my father, I knew that this belief was becoming a reality. My mom saw that we were becoming interested in the church and had asked us to wait until we were 18 so we could make the decision as an adult. My twin brother was more than ready by the time we were 18 and was baptized the weekend after we turned it. However, I was not ready or willing to make that kind of commitment yet. I'm the kind of person who doesn't like to be pushed. So when my father and brother strongly urged me to take the missionary lessons and join the church, I backed away. It wasn't until my freshman year at college when I was finally free to make my own choices that I decided to investigate the church more fully. After 9 months of investigating and still not having a complete knowledge or a really strong testimony, I knew that I had the faith to obtain the promised blessings of conversion to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every day since then has been a fulfillment of all of those blessings.

How I live my faith

Right now, it's pretty easy to live my faith. This is because I am serving as a full-time missionary in California. It wasn't always easy to live my faith, especially when I was in college. Luckily I had great people surrounding me who supported me in my decisions to do what was right, even if it wasn't always "popular." I've never been a follower of the world, but I strive every day to be a follower of Jesus Christ. This place is a scary place and the only thing that brings me comfort is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It's the only place I've ever felt safe in my life.
