Hi I'm Josh Risher

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an Officer in the United States Army. I've been married to my lovely wife Amanda since 2005, and we have two beautiful little girls.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church, and when I was 13 years old, I gained a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through prayer and the witness of the Holy Ghost. While I was not always stalwart growing up, my testimony and knowledge of the Atonement of Jesus Christ have grown with me. Their is nothing more precious to me than knowing that I am a child of a loving Heavenly Father, and that through His wonderful plan I, along with my family, can return to His presence one day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying every day to become more like who and what the Savior wants me to be. He suffered for my sins and died so that I could be forgiven and have the opportunity to repent and become better than what I am--so that I could become holy, just like He is. I have a long way to go, but I strive to do my part; through His grace I will be there one day.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Josh Risher
Joseph Smith was a humble young man who the Lord called as a prophet. The Gospel of Jesus Christ--that because of our Savior's atonement, all can be freed from sin and return to live with our Father in Heaven--has been taught to the children of man since the time of Adam and Eve. Sometimes the Lord's people fell away from the Gospel, and lost much precious truth through their wickedness and unbelief. The Lord has called prophets to guide his people to do that which is correct. Men like Enoch, Noah, Abrham, Moses, Elijah, and John the Baptist were called to restore truths that had been forgotten and lost, and to return the hearts of the people to their God. After nearly 1,700 years of spiritual darkness, in which the fulness of the Gospel was not found on the earth due to the martyrdom of the Lord's apostles, Joseph Smith was called as a prophet to restore the Gospel to the children of man. Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Josh Risher
We need a Savior because everyone on this earth is in way over our heads. No unclean thing can dwell in our Heavenly Father's presence. There are more ways to sin than most of us realize, and even when we do realize, we stumble. We may repent of our sins and forsake them, but that is more like deciding "I'm not going to get any more dirt on me" rather than" I'm going to become clean and get this dirt off of me". We're too stained by sin to become clean by ourselves. Jesus Christ took our sins upon Him. He paid the price for our transgressions. By doing so, He cleanses us. Show more Show less
