Hi I'm Tessa

I am a wife, a mother, a three-time cancer fighter, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

A year and a half ago I was busy enjoying my life as a wife and a mother to two small children (ages 3 and 2), and adjusting to a recent move to the east coast. I was helping teach a co-op preschool for my daughter and trying to keep a home as a stay-at-home mom. Life was great! In the midst of it all I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, stage IV cancer. Since then my life has been a whirlwind of doctor's appointments and chemotherapy treatments while trying to continue being the best wife and mother I can be. I went through a stem cell transplant and finally achieved remission only to be diagnosed again in February of 2012... The cancer came back and I'm fighting it again with the latest cutting-edge treatment and will be receiving a bone marrow transplant from my brother sometime this summer. I've been able to get through with God's support, a community willing to provide babysitting, meals, and prayers, as well as a wonderful husband and extended family, and a faith made solid by my first experience with cancer twelve years ago.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my faith in God and my strong belief in the importance of family. I believe wholeheartedly that my family can achieve happiness and eternal life through the teachings of Jesus Christ. The Mormon church supports this belief and provides programs and teachings that help my family work toward our full potential.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by performing daily individual and family prayer. I teach my children love and compassion, and other attributes of Jesus Christ. I try to treat my neighbor as I believe the Savior would. I attend Church services on Sunday and help teach children ages 3-12, which helps me learn the Gospel on and understand it more.
