Hi I'm Cynthia

My family, friends, and faith bring me joy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to work in my garden and work out at the gym. Our family likes to go camping, fishing and hiking. We enjoy getting together with our extended family for dinners, birthdays, and just for fun. Although I'm college-educated, I've had the priviledge of being a stay home mom. Learning how to raise happy, confident children has provided me with many opportunities to grow.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because when we were teenagers, my sister's friend invitied us to come to church with her. I remember listening to the Sunday lessons and feeling that what was taught was true, something I already knew. I began reading the Book of Mormon. As I read and prayed I learned who God is. I learned about the Plan of Salvation and the role of Jesus Christ in Father's plan. During my study, the Spirit would often confirm that what I was learning was true. Our friends brought us to church with them for 3 years before we were baptized! I am grateful to so many who taught us about the gospel of Jesus Christ during that time. Everything I have learned since that time has confirmed what I learned in my youth: God is our Father. Jesus Christ is our Savior. Because of what Jesus Christ has done for us, we may return to live with our Father someday. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints brings me great happiness each and every day.

How I live my faith

One of my favorite church activities is singing in the choir. Music is a great way to give thanks and praise to the Lord. I started singing with our ward choir as a teenager. Ward choir has been a very fun way to get to know the members of the church wherever I have lived. These people are among my closest friends. I have also had the opportunity to direct the choir from time to time. I love hearing all those voices singing as one, offering a prayer to the Lord.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom teaches us how to care for our physical health. The Word of Wisdom warns us of substances that are harmful to our physical bodies such as tobacco, alcohol and drugs. Choosing to partake of these substances actually limits our further choices as we become addicted. The Word of Wisdom further counsels us to eat healthy foods such as herbs, fruits, grains and meats. Blessings of strength, knowledge and protection are promised as we keep this commandment. I am a cancer survivor thanks in part to the blessings I have received from keeping the Word of Wisdom. What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

God is all-powerful, all-knowing. He is the great Creator of the heavens, this earth and all that is in the earth. God is our Father. We are His children. Best of all, He knows each one of us by name. He loves us dearly. He longs for us to be with Him again. Show more Show less
