Hi I'm Esther

I'm a Special Ed. Teacher, I'm a daughter, sister, aunt and friend and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a native German who grew up in the church. I love to be around people like my family and friends, I love music and singing. I love being a Special Ed. Teacher in a small town in Germany. I love to work with kids and to teach them and help them grow despite their handicaps. I am working with mentally handicapped kids. Most of them have difficulties expressing themselves through verbal language. One of my assignments is to help them learn using augmentative or alternative communication aids. They are using sign lagnuage, photos, graphic icons, simple or even very complex comminication aids like talkers, to be able to express themselves better. To me the most amazing part of my job is seeing those special kids stepping forward in their very individual way - even if it means in very small steps. I think it also helps me enjoying the small and simple things in life which brings true happiness into our lifes - family, friends, my faith in Christ, nature, good and uplifting music ...

Why I am a Mormon

As I mentioned before I was raised in the church. My parents are converts, got married in the temple and raised us (3 children) in our faith. So, to me many mormon tradition have been part of my day to day life since birth. During my teenage years I had to make my own decision wether the church was true or not and if I really wanted to live the standards of the church. I guess I always knew the church was true but I was always the more rebellious kid in our family, so I wanted to make sure it's my decision to stay active in the church. I can't recall one certain experience or moment when I finally found out it was true. I just kept praying, was studying the scriptures (Book of Mormon and Bible) and tried hard to keep the commandments. By making this experiment upon the "word" or the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ I learned line upon line and received a little part of my testimony here and there. I am always describing my testimony as a puzzle of different pieces.Everytime I received one piece I felt the most inner peace one could imagine. This was the Holy Ghost who testified of the thruth of the Book of Mormon, living prophets in our days and many other things. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and His church. Being a part of this great work here in Germany is a humbling and very joyous feeling. And I think it does not matter where you are living on the earth but how you are living your daily life. I know that through the small and simple things (prayer, scripture study, keeping the commandments of God) each man and woman on the earth can know that Christ indeed is God's Son and the Savior and Redeemer of mankind!! I know He lives and loves each of us.

How I live my faith

Right now, I am living in a small very old town in Germany. Being almost the only member of the church in a small community can be difficulty sometimes. But I know, the more I turn to the Lord for strength and help He will lead and guide me although I am not seeing many members of my faith during the week. It also gives me a great opportunity to serve my fellow men in my job but also in my community. I know, it does not really matter where I am living, as long as I am true to my faith and the standards the Savior taught, I can live a happy and productive life. Of course, my life is not perfect - it needs improvment in so many ways - I still believe that if I put my trust in the Lord, repenting of my mistakes and weaknesses and doing my best He will lead me and everything will work out (Prov. 3:5-6) somehow. I am grateful to be a Mormon and that my parents are the modern pioneers in my family. They blessed our lifes in so many ways.
