Hi I'm Kara

I love outdoor adventures, French horn, family, and avocados. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife, mom, and recently finished a master's degree in horn performance. I met my husband in sixth grade band. We are now happily married and have a toddler who loves to swing and help put silverware away. I love learning, playing the horn, running, trying raw-food recipes, and being active outdoors. My husband and I recently completed our first marathon.

Why I am a Mormon

Because it truly makes me happy! When I read the Book of Mormon, the Holy Ghost testifies to me that it's true. I love being able to receive current revelation through our prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and being able to receive personal revelation through the Holy Ghost. When I read about Joseph Smith's first vision, the Spirit whispers this is true as well. I love receiving direction at church, partaking of the Sacrament to renew my covenants with God, and knowing that my husband and I, and posterity, are sealed for time and all eternity in the temple as long as we honor our promises with God. Serving others as Christ did brings me joy. Understanding God's Plan of Happiness brings me peace. The more I learn, the more I want everyone to have this.

How I live my faith

Daily prayer and scripture study are important to me, as are going to church and having family home evening. I love attending the temple, keeping a personal history through journal-writing, and hope to become more involved in family history. My husband and I try to follow the prophet the best we can by having food storage, paying tithing, getting all the education we can, keeping a budget, etc. I've chosen to stay home with our son rather than pursue employment at this time and this brings me joy. I've had the opportunity to serve in various callings that have helped me meet wonderful people, give to others, and grow closer to God. Some of these include being a visiting teacher, member missionary, ward president of God's organization for women, and musical missionary in the Orchestra at Temple Square.
