Hi I'm Arletta

I love to think. I love to laugh. I will never say no to a good cookie. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have nine brothers and sisters, which some people think is crazy! I am a psychology student, hoping to make a change in the world. I love to learn. In fact, one could say it is my passion. I study from the scriptures just as much as I do from textbooks and research articles.I believe that people are inherently good. I served a mission in the New Hampshire Manchester Mission, where my life was changed forever for the better. I love biking, art, music, thought provoking theories, foreign languages and cultures and laughing hard. I'm quiet and introverted, but will stand firm in what I believe. Like Paul, I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. My ultimate goal in life? To be happy. Everyday. Which is why I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

What an interesting topic! There are SO many reasons why I am a Mormon. First (chronologically), it is the way I was raised. My parents are both members of the church, so it is a culture and religion that I am familiar with since I was young. Second (but most important), I have learned that God, our loving, merciful Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us and has provided a way for us to return to Him. Not only does that make Him happy, but it makes ME and EVERY SINGLE PERSON I LOVE happy. Being a Mormon has not been easy when I am questioned, mocked and tried by friends and peers. I don't expect it to ever be easy. But it does make sense, and I am happy when I pray and study from the scriptures and learn truths that I now hold sacred.

How I live my faith

Faith is a word of action. I believe that faith will not last unless it is lived. I have faith that Jesus Christ is my savior, so I am doing my best to be like Him. To love Him and everyone around me. To serve those in need without hesitating. I know that we cannot live perfect lives, but as I strive to be better and better each day, I can do my part.

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

The most recognized way that the church helps others around the world is by humanitarian aid. Disaster relief, clean water, distribution of food and water, teaching self-reliance, helping build homes and small businesses. All of that is great, right? But the biggest help that we have to offer as a church is the teaching of charity, the pure love of Christ. As we develop charity we are closer to obtaining a love that Christ Himself had. A love so pure, He forgave all. He helped all. He reached out to all. He had the greatest love and laid down His life for us, His friends. He asked all to follow Him so we could be perfect. This is a world-wide church, so we have the opportunity to reach out to individuals around the world. Show more Show less
