Hi I'm Taylor Smith

I'm from Utah, I snowmobile, snowboard, longboard, I'm a dog lover, and it's cool to be Mormon!

About Me

I play guitar, and love snowboading. I am from Utah, and I am currently serving as a missionary of this church in the Texas Houston Mission Spanish speaking. my plans after the mission are i want to get a job, and go to a college for awhile till i can figure out what I want to study. I plan on trying out for a basketball team after, but I still have lots of work on that. I really enjoy playing sports, especially basketball, football, and golf, and I love the outdoors, such as camping, dirtbiking, fourwheeling, snowmobiling. and such. Our family consists of 6, my two parents, older sister who is married, and two younger brothers. my youngest brother, Tyler, was diagnosed with Hepatocellular Carcinoma cancer, a rare form of cancer that only happens to one in a million kids. It has been a struggle to find that peace that I have needed to stay out here on my mission and to do what I was called to do. I have a strong testimony that prayer is one of those ways that we can have that peace in life that we all look for. Our Heavenly Father has a plan for each and every one of us, and if we just beleive in Him, and trust in Him, it's easier to know that everything will be alright. I am grateful for the knowledge I have that families can be together forever, and that it is God's plan that we are happy, and I do my my greatest happiness through my family. I look forward to doing all the things I love to do with my family when I return from the mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I know it's true. I've seen the blessings from this Gospel in my life, before the mission, and especially during the mission. I grew up in this church, and just like most boys that grow up in this church, I didn't really understand why we would go to church, and didn't understand the idea that this is Christ's church, and through this church and the saving ordinances that if offers, that we may return to live with our Heavenly Father. After being on a mission for almost 2 years now, I have no doubt in my mind that this is the only true church, and that this message that we have can bring happiness to anyone. I know that Jesus is the Christ, and that through his atoning sacrifice, we may become clean and leave that guilt and pain that we carry sometimes.

How I live my faith

by just living and enjoying life, instead of only enduring it. I try my best everyday to come closer to my Heavenly Father through prayer, obedience, and just doing whats right. I am currently serving a mission in the Texas Houston Mission, and I will be going home at the end of October in 2011. I am very excited to see my family and friends. I feel like these two years have really changed my life, and that it will greatly help me in the life I want to have after the mission. That will include making good goals, and habits, and having the desire to have a happy family. I love serving others, its something I've really developed on the mission, and I love seeing the gratitude in others when I am helping them. I have found that when times are hard and it feels like no one is there, sharing this gospel and time with others and listening to others and worrying about others instead of myself and really brought true happiness in my life.

What is the priesthood?

The most simple answer I can give to that, is it is the diving power of God that has been giving to man today to perform the ordinances, such as baptism, that allow us to return to His presence someday. Show more Show less
