Hi I'm Ben

I am a father, a bond lawyer and a basketball fan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the father of four great kids. In my law practice, I help cities, counties, school districts and other clients finance needed projects and improvements. Living in Georgia, I love visiting Civil War sites and learning about Civil War history. I coach recreational soccer and basketball teams. I'd like to say I'm a great coach, but let's just say my winning percentage is somewhere south of .500.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church has helped me develop a relationship with God and my Savior Jesus Christ. Good parents, kind leaders and good friends have helped me become a better disciple of Christ. I have felt the truthfulness of the fundamental principals of the gospel and the scriptures. That witness helps me through harder times. I pray for the strength to be a committed follower of Christ each day.

How I live my faith

I make an honest effort to keep my life clean. I pray often. I study the scriptures. I try to be a good husband and father. I try to be kind to people around me. I look for chances to help. I repent--a lot. I try to live modestly and within my means. We have family scripture study and family prayer each day. We have a family night each week where we learn about the gospel, play games and have a treat.

What do Mormons believe about "eternal life?"

Ben
We believe it is to live with God and Christ. We belive that this can only happen through Christ's atonement, coupled with our efforts to repent and live a good life. We believe that eternal life is not a static state, but a state in which further work is done to glorify God. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Ben
Ask a Mormon woman! Then stand back. They are more than capable for speaking for themselves. My wife and I are equal partners in family life. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Ben
This teaching comes mainly from the Book of Mormon. I love being able to counsel with leaders and never having to second guess what their motives might be. Being a leader in the church is time consuming and taxing. But serving the Lord pays dividends in blessings. Show more Show less
