Hi I'm Rachel

East Dandenong born and raised. In a school yard is where I spent most of my days. Also... I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am RACHEL I am being sealed to the most loveliest guy in the world on the 12 February 2011! I guess I am easy going, then again I will stab you in the hand if you say otherwise. People call me the Wombat Whisperer because I have the ability to communicate with wombats. I'm a Latter-Day Saint. Yes, that means I am Mormon. No, I dont ride a bike. I live in Melbourne, because I am cool like that. I find it easier to deffend my friends than myself. I will always keep your secrets but never keep my own. Electricity lights me up! I have a reputation for texting people in my sleep. I am easily distracted, especially when driving. I like to make new friends... All the time... I only smoke when I catch on fire. I hurt myself performing even the simplest tasks. I will keep calling you until you answer. Current favourite song: For The Longest Time - Billy Joel.

Why I am a Mormon

One day, I was at home waiting for a doctor to come around and check up on me. I heard a knock on the front door and assuming it was the doctor, I made my way to the door to open it to see two missionaries standing there. As I did have a doctor arriving any minute I quickly and quite rudely dismissed the missionaries and told them to come around another time. Now the Missionaries knew that I had a doctor coming around but what they didnt know is that the doctor was from the 'Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team' or CAT team which is designed for those who are severely depressed and on the brink of suicide. Before I had met the missionaries, I had gotten into a mental state where I just hit rock bottom and people were beginnging to believe I wouldn't make it out of this state. As time passed over the next month, not only I but members ofmy family had noticed that I was getting happier and happier. It wasn't because of the help I was getting from the CAT team but because of Elder Money and Elder Curtis. Two angels sent from our heavenly father to knock on my door and save me from myself. I don't know how I lived my life without the gospel in it but I do know that if Elder Money and Elder Curtis hadn't knocked on my door when they did that I probably wouldn't be alive right now. Elder Money and Elder Curtis came to my house often and taught me about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I listened, I learned, I believed and now I know. I know this church is the only true church and I know Joseph Smith was a prophet guided to restore the Gospel. I am so happy that the gospel is now and forever a part of my life and so thankful that Elder Money and Elder Curtis introduced me to it. I owe them my life. God loves us all and wants us to live healthy and happy lives and this I KNOW! And I say these things humbly in the name of our saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

The way that I try to live my faith is to do everything I can to follow the Savior's example. His life was all about serving others. He taught that we should reach out to others in love, that we should "bear one-another's burdens that they may be light". We are taught that "when we are in the service of our fellow beings we are only in the service of our God". I live my faith by trying to be the very best person that I can be, and my faith is that whatever I lack in myself The Lord will make up for through His infinite Atonement. The Church doesn't have paid ministry. We believe that we're called to serve in the Church by those who have authority. I have not been in the Church that long but I have been called for support in Sunday School. I've been asked to speak in our Sunday services, baptisms, firesides. I've been involved as what is called a "visiting teacher" where we visit members of the Church each month to be of service and to help them in any way we can. We serve in the Church because we believe that when we are in the service of our fellow beings, we are in the service of our God.
