Hi I'm Judy

I LOVE being a mom and a grandma. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After college I taught Kindergarten for three years before our first child was born. From then on I got to be an at home mom. We have eight children. When people used to ask me if I worked, I knew that they were asking if I had a job outside the home? I would just laugh and say, "Oh yes, I work!" It was a lot of work, but it was so much fun. It has been amazing to see all eight of our children serve missions for our church, graduate from college, and become happy, self-sufficient, contributing adults. We now have fifteen grandchildren. Life is so good!

Why I am a Mormon

I used to be a Mormon because as a child, my parents took me to church and taught me to love and trust in my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. They taught me about Heavenly Father's plan for me. They taught me that the atonement of Jesus Christ makes it possible for me to someday return home to live with my Heavenly Father again---with my family. They taught me that my choices have consequences and that making good choices would bring me happiness even when life was hard. Now I am a Mormon because I know for myself that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the church God wants me to belong to. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that there are prophets of God on the earth today just as in times of old. Joseph Smith was the prophet God sent to help restore His church to the earth. Thomas Monson is God's prophet now. I know that Jesus Christ lives and loves me enough to pay for my sins. I know my Heavenly Father loves me enough to let His only begotten Son suffer and die for me. Now I am a Mormon because it brings peace and joy into my life. I know who I am, why I am here on earth, where I want to be forever and what I need to do to get there---with my family.

How I live my faith

From the time we were first married almost 40 years ago, my husband and I planned that later in our lives we would serve a mission for this church. Two years ago we decided it was time. Our children were all grown and doing well on their own. My husband's civil engineering business was at a point where we could sell it. Our health was still good. We filled out an application to serve as a missionary couple. Then, much to our surprise, we found out the Lord had something else in mind for us. Instead of a calling to serve as a missionary couple for 18 months, my husband was called to serve as a Mission President for three years. I was called to serve with him. We would be responsible for around 130 young missionaries at a time, over the next three years. That was a huge change from what we were expecting. I felt very inadequate and overwhelmed. But since I had learned to trust in my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ throughout my life, I knew that they would help us do what they were asking us to do, whatever that was. We sold the business, sorted through 35 years of life in our home, got rid of much of it, stored the rest, leased our home, left our children and grandchildren and our friends and neighbors and here we are in Wisconsin. I miss our children and grandchildren, but I know that I am where I belong, for now. I love helping the missionaries. I love missionary work. We have so much to share with others that can bless their lives---now and forever.
