Hi I'm Zak Thomas

I'm a Texan born and raised. I love sports, the outdoors, and playing music. I'm a college student, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student and am an exercise science major. I plan on going to Physician's Assistant's school. My passions are sports, the outdoors, and music. Soccer has always been a huge part of my life and i play it as much as i can. I still skateboard to school and to work and ever since i have lived in Utah, I have fallen in love with the mountains and snowboarding. I love music as well, i play bass guitar in a band with some friends. I still listen to music i loved growing up, and am starting to get into the classics at the same time. l love going on adventures, having bonfires, and road trips. I like to look at life in the eyes of peter pan from the movie hook, "to live would be an awfully big adventure."

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a strong mormon family of six kids in Texas. I love my brothers and sisters to death, and the love was definitely earned. My parents provided me with all the example and teachings that led to my own personal conversion. I can't say exactly how i got my testimony, because its a result of a lifetime of living the gospel and seeing and receiving the blessings that come from it. To me its always been common sense, I saw the lives that my friends led in high school and compared it to my own, and I wouldn't trade my own for anything in the world. The sacrifices I have made for my beliefs have always been worth it, and i don't regret a single decision I have made in that regard. But beyond that, the spirit has testified to me many times in many different ways that the gospel is true, and I know that real and true happiness comes from living it with all my heart. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that He lived and atoned for every person that has been born on the earth. I know He loves each person unconditionally, and the the price he paid for each of our sins is real.

How I live my faith

My faith directs everything I do in life. For me personally, it is most important that I live my faith through my actions, and in my mind, there is nothing that can keep me from living it. I am far from perfect, but I try to emulate the Savior's life with my own. There is something about service, especially to those I know and love, that gives me the greatest sense of satisfaction and joy that I haven't felt from anything else. As a member, I try to do everything that I am asked to do, and some things I am not. Right now I am an family home evening leader in my college ward and a hometeacher. I learn everyday from the plenty of mistakes that I make and sometimes make over again, and that is how i grow and my faith as well.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Zak Thomas
We believe God revealed unto us a law governing our health because He loves us. He has promised great blessings to those who live it. I may not understand all the reasons He has given for not being able to drink this or do that, but I know with all my heart that trusting and living by these laws has brought those real blessings that He promised.
